Ok, so I have been accepted to both Pitt and Villanova. I've also received tuition exchange to both schools which basically means a full scholarship to Pitt and only about 5,000 +room and board at Villanova. My goal is to become and actuary I believe. Now for my pros and cons list.
Pitt:
Pros: one of my best friends is going there, full tuition, they have my exact major (Actuarial Mathematics), good party school, and a quality education system especially for business which is mixed into my major.
Cons: Opinionated as "not as good" of a school as Villanova, 4hour drive from home, public school
Villanova:
Pros: great education, clean atmosphere, only a 2 hr drive from home, friends are located in the philly area at temple, drexel, etc.
Cons: none of my close friends are going there, slightly more expensive, I would have to dual major in Math and Econ, seems like not much of the school is devoted to specifically my major, and i cant say ive heard from many that it is VillaNOFUN, having trouble finding a roommate
What would you do if you were me?! Any response may help me out even though in the end im just going to have to choose.

What were your grades and standardized test scores like to get nearly a full ride to nova? They barely give any money according to their website. To answer your question though i say Pitt, youll make friends fast and it seems to fit everything you need academically.

well i don't know anything about villanova, but...i live in pittsburgh. I'm a pitt sports fan and all but i personally probably wouldn't go there. Some parts in oakland and the city are sketchy as fuck but there are some pretty sick sights like the cathedral. as for skiing the closest place is 7 springs which is like an hour drive but its pretty sweet.

pitt sounds like your school man, it sounds like it has more for your major, and that usually means professors who will help you get you where you want to be and not have to guess. they have experience, if that makes sense?

That attitude is what I am afraid of because thats really not my style at all haha I like to party and have a good time but not with stuck up frat dudes. But I am real fortunate to have my dad be the head of the Math dept at the U of Scranton and tuition exchange is simply just a separate application and Villanova just happened to accept me with it. I had a 1930 SAT and a 97 gpa with all honors and APs but i got real stoned and wrote a sick essay about my life for nova too which probably helped me out.

Honestly, sounds like Pitt is the school for you. Also, the fact that it's a public school shouldn't be one of your cons. Public schools have certainly caught up to private schools these days (aside from Ivy Leagues, Stanford, etc.) and if they're down to pay your tuition, go for it. If you're dead set on that major and Pitt has it, it's probably the better place for you.

I'd say Pitt because it seems like a much better and more natural fit for you. As far as the cons go, I don't think being away from home will be a bad thing at all and when it comes down to it, unless it's Harvard or a school like that, I don't think a small amount of prestige from one school will help you very much when finding a job.

two of my good friends go to nova. one is preppy, one isn't, neither are arrogant or stuck up and both love it there. from what i can tell the villa"no"fun rep is undeserved. but it sounds like you're more for pitt, so go there.

believe me, my friend goes there and he hates the frats, but there is always a house party somewhere in Oakland. plus the cops don't give a shit, unless you're stupid.

full scholarship is the deciding factor, both are sick schools and you'd probably enjoy either
