Bone spur?

kk so here is the story, halfway through the season i was trying to put my boots on, and when I was on the chairlift my joint that connects my small toe to my foot was hurting alot, kind of like a pushing up feeling or cracked feeling. later that day i looked at it and saw that it had no bruising and I couldnt really see anything wrong with my foot. so know about 2 months later it still hurts when i push up against something. should i get it checked out or just wait it out?

I have the same problem. The pad to the outside of my pinkie toe on my right foot is about 60% larger than my left, hurts like a bitch in boots.

wait, did it just all of a sudden start hurting on the chair? For bone spurs, there should be a visual lump.

its not that big, but its kind of red on the skin, but it really hurts in ski boots.

I get that feeling sometimes but I have bone cysts not spurs.

im pretty sure i have one on the side of my foot above my arch

it hurts like a bitch if i move my foot around in my boot, right now im just icing it and sucking it up until the season ends this weekend

i'll probably get my boots punched out in that area next year, that's my recommendation for anyone suffering from the same condition

i have the same problem on my heel. other than surgery, which from what ive heard isnt all that great, all you can do is get your boots punched

I have one on the outside of my right ankle. You could get your shell punched out where your toe is and/or get a small piece of foam to cushion it.

nice, i have the same exact problem. it definitely happened one day when I was going HAM skiing pow, and now hurts every time i ski. I have basically been taking a shitpile of advil every time i go out, and i'm hoping it goes down in the offseason.

anyone have this same issue before/has it healed up after taking a few months off?

I've got one on my right heel and whenever i land switch i hurts so bad. They really suck, and the isn't to much you can do

spent an hour fucking around with my boots in surefoot today as i have them on both my right and left sixth toes, punched the shells out more but still isnt really cutting it...guess its just gunna mean arinica, ice, and ibuprofen for a while now

there is always that old home remedy for them too, bite down on a stick and smash the spur with a hammer to break up all the calcium. ive never done that though, and youd probly end up crying like a girl for a few days haha

no good. I've got spurs on the outside of each of my feet. went into a foot Dr, he told me he could shave the bones off on each, both feet at the same time, and that my recovery would be a few weeks on crutches, in addition to however long for recovery after that. During the skiing off-season the inflamation in the spurs goes way down and I dont really have problems with them. Last season sucked for me, a few times I literally fell over on runs trying to stop cramping in my feet. Might try a boot fitter to see if he/she could cut into the shell to make room for your spur. Most likely im going to try going up a size or two in my boots first, really trying to avoid a surgery.

I have bone spurs from skiing at the base of both my Achilles, above my heels at the back. Thank god for heat moldable liners.

have any of you found a brand of boot that has really helped? I toughed out a painful season in some atomic boots and am looking at surgery in booth feet for gnarly spurs. Just wondering what boots to get for next year

first you need to figure out what the problem is.

if it hurts as soon as you put your boots on and it's just being in contact with anything that irritates it, then odds are pretty good punching your boots out will help remedy the situation.

if it starts to hurt after being in the boots for a while / skiing for a while, then odds are good your boots are too big / wide and it's from a constant rubbing that's causing the issue.

in either case, having a proper footbed in your boots will definitely help the situation, try superfeet if you don't have benefits for custom orthotics. supporting your foot and joints properly will help for sure

this is a really common problem with hockey skates as well (which is what I fit / sell) and there's almost always a way to fix the problem without surgery or anything. but definitely don't just "wait it out", if it becomes a calcium growth the only way to remove it is with surgery which will take you off skis / out of skates for around six months or so

3 year old thread, but anyway, try dalbello. especially the ones with the super thick intuition liner. worked like a charm for my spurs.
