Replying to Help from Native Germans!!

As maybe others have seen in various threads I've talked about my awesome opportunity to study abroad next year in Germany! Now I'm not too familiar with mountain ranges and local stuff outside of some areas that I have previously spent time in such as Hannover and Berlin. What I was wondering is if any German NS'ers could point me in the right direction of the best places in Hessen (the state I will be living in) both park and mountain wise to look into hitting up during my stay next year. Any other helpful information is welcome as well.
