One of my favourite local pubs is being threatened with legal action over it's name.
It is called "The Hobbit", and has been called so for the last 20 years!
It has been threatened with legal action by some Hollywood lawyers who have approached the landlord to inform them that they are infringing copyright law.
However the pub has been around for 20 years! Far longer than the films. It was set up as tribute to one of Britain's literacy greats, who died less than 30 miles away from there. Instead of which some fat lawyer rat 3000 miles away wants to line their pockets.
JRR Tolkien will be turning in his grave!
Reminds me of the Level 1 vs. WME saga a couple of years ago.

P.s I'm not suggesting boycotting the Hobbit film or anything like that as the film has nothing to do with the rights management company apparently for whatever reason...
How do you feel about this and other "david and goliath" situations?
The situation is quite ridiculous!
