Stong touring bindings?

What would be a good stong touring binding for me im 5'7 120 and i ski agresivly, I drop preatty big clifs hit booters and go switch in pow. I want to start touring but i dont know what binding would be right for me.

tldr : drop big clifs want touring binding that wong break.

get educated before you do anything.


guardian/tracker is the best.


you dont to to much switch skiing with a/t bindings.

the strongest touring setup is a MFD plate with fks 180's. you dont need that much though

at your size, dynafits or plums are the way to go for sure. when it comes down to it, you cannot really do much switch riding and landing in the backcountry. I was like you, slaying the pow switch on my caylors in bounds and I was sure I'd do the same in the bc. but when you're two hours skin out from a road it's completely unfair to put the people you're riding with in the position of having to carry you out cause you tweak your knee badly, or worse, doing something that was avoidable. you spend like 97% of your time going uphill when touring so it makes way
more sense to get something great at that part of it.

but first take an avalanche safety class.

Let me clairify a few things.

1. I have taken avy classes

2. I have avy gear and know how to use it. (beacon probe ect.)

This... As of now there are no AT bindings that are not made almost completely of plastic. Which means, getting up the hill usually goes fine, but getting down is when you blow them out.

Were really into the idea of getting an MFD plate on your skis. This way you can put the binding you are most comfortable with on the plate, and not worry about having some sub par 12 din bindings holding you in place when you send some crazy lines after you just toured up Superior.

This is a really good idea. Unfortunately touring is all about minimum weight which also means minimum durability. Being able to use your normal alpine binding while touring in the backcountry is the best. You could go with a trekker but they cost about the same about and are prone to breaking while hiking uphill.

Touring is not all about minimum weight.. thats just your deffinition of touring.. You can tour/skin as long as you want, its different for everybody.
Yes for multiple day long tours an MFD setup is heavy, but for day trips to ride some crazy lines its awesome..

hell even dukes arent even that bad.


op at your weight it is so dumb to an mfd with any binding since i doubt you are using an 18 din binding any way, and a 12 din px is just as good if not worse then a duke.

I'm 6'2, 180 pounds and have skied very aggressively on my Dukes both in bounds and with touring without any problems. With that being said, they are a little heavy, and the lever for touring is kind of a pain, but in my mind to complain about that is reeeally splitting hairs. Why do we expect to have shit always work perfectly?

The new Salomon/Atomic one is getting a lot of hype for next, but after looking at specs and whatnot I think my next pair will be the the Tyrolia. They kept it more under wraps so there isn't as much hype around it, but I'm excited by it.

the head/tyrolia/4frnt binding is more plastic then the duke. i wasnt a huge fan, reminded me alot of a diamir.
