Skiing... alone.

Going to Breck in a couple of days but I don't have any friends coming with me, meeting me there, etc. Does anyone have any tips for how to make skiing solo more enjoyable than usual? Thanks~

I always learn new tricks when I ski alone, it might be less fun but I try to think of it more as "training". Music helps for most,, although I don't like it

This. I ski alone a lot cause my friends are busy. It's usually not too hard of a time finding someone on the mountain. Every lift ride is an opportunity to meet new people.

This is what I pretty much did all season... and then if I went back to the mountain I would meet up with them again and it's always a good time

Back in highschool nobody at my school skied.. used to go all the time alone. Its not bad, you can take the singles lift line, meet a lot of people. If you're sociable and talk to people you'll be good.. actually met a kid who i still shred with today (5 years later) that way

it will be a good test of brain power



and to OP:    talk to people who seem cool,    and if that fails turn your music up really loud and hit the singles line!

Sometimes, I'd rather shred solo than with a friend, even with the opportunity to be in a group... I can set my own pace, do what I want, shred the singles line, enjoy skiing the way I want to... And I don't ever listen to music, either...

on busy weekends i wouldnt want to not ski solo. 30 minute lift line for most...5 minute for singles haha.

that said, on powder days and mellow crowd days i like to have friends because i find myself really holding back when skiing solo, because if i get hurt i am screwed and the closest fam and friends are 4 hours away. also, having friends with you makes you want to show off and do something sick, so i tend to shred much harder.

Single skiing is tight as fuck. I love shredding with buds but when your alone its just you and your thoughts and you can do whatever.

meet people in the lift lines? on the lift?

just be friendly. I often go to my home mountain (tiny lil thing in michigan) alone, and i always end up finding a few kids to ride with even though they are usually a lot younger than me

Its mad easy to meet up with people at a place like Breck cause it seems like the park is never not crowded even on weekdays.

Skiing alone is boring for me its all about being with friends, except on a pow day that is.

I ski with friends all the time because it gets boring just skiing at a tiny hill otherwise.
When Im in the mountains I ski on my own because my friends dont come with me and also that way you can explore what you want and meet some cool people, this year I met a group of russians riding the single line.

That reminds me, I was out to PC a month ago, and on my first chairlift up hill, who do you suppose is right in front of me. Yep, I'm so lucky haha. Fun to chat with Tom and ski on the same slope as him. I got to see him do his double backie.. Made my day!:)

Anyway, I love skiing alone, just me and my ipod. No waiting or trying to keep track of others. I'm impatient and like to go at my own pace. Course I love skiing with my kids though. My son pushes me to push myself!

I ski alone a lot. I find that I progress more when I am by myself because I can hike whatever feature for as long as I want and just do quick park laps. Obviously its much funner with people, but I find it very relaxing at the same time. Except for powder days. Those are exponentially better with other people.

kind of disagree,

I tend to ski really fast compared to my friends I ski with and it gets really aggravating waiting at the bottom of the hill especially when I'm skiing pow or anything outside the park. I don't know why I just tend to go faster than anyone else and never slowing down and cruising right up onto the lift is pretty awesome. When I'm alone I ski even harder because I have nobody to keep track of behind me.

In my personal opinion skiing alone is definitely not as fun. Every time I go to breck there are lots of kids with different skill levels out, just approach some kids who are about as good as you and ask them if you can ski with them.
