"offtrail" first light

well the skiing is better than last year i think, hard to tell, i couldnt get past the bad camera work. the angles weren't good and alot of the shots were over exposed so you just saw a skier going across a bunch of white. learn to use your fuckin cameras! next learn to use music in a movie properly, you choose a song and then edit the section to it instead of just throwing in music that doesnt work to the section like you did. Brandon Becker really should be filming with a company of higher quality.

Offtrail? where was the offtrail, should be
Park city goons. and the amount of little kids who dress like little jib monkey goons was ridiculous at the movie premier. my guess is more than half of those kids cant really ski they just fall around in the air and look stupid by grinding rails. Get in touch with skiing's roots, Go watch a Greg Stump ski film

Dont Buy this movie!
save it for something better like buying Theory 3'movie Breathe and Stop, they have pure skiing no bullshit

how many big moutn pros can 270 onto a rail? hardly any. How many park skier could drop a cliff, just about any of them. See tricks in the backcountry is one thing, but most of the people you listed can't do any tricks with any style at all.


I think Anthony Boronowski in general is just a phase.

the fact is first light has a ways to go. None the less it was a start and its how everyone does it. Entertaining movie though. You cant expect some full blown pro movie to come out like Theory 3 did.

who cares how many big mountain skiers can 270 onto a rail? The point some people have been making is they are completely different things. People spend their time on different pursuits.

If you want to 270 onto a rail, you'll spend time in the park trying it til you get it, (assuming you're close to that level of park riding). But I'm sure there's plenty of big mountain riders that don't care. I mean, if you're getting helipcoptered into mountains in alaska, would you really care that you can't 270 onto a rail?

Similarly, if you're a ridiculous park skier, and can kill 4+ kink urban rails, should it bother you that you can't take down a steep face in the alps? Everyone has access to different terrain, and everyone enjoys different things.

Lastly, judging people based on a video segment is pretty stupid in my mind. If someone is real good, it can be pretty obvious from a move seg. But some guys just don't have as much time to film, don't spend the time to film, etc. Guys that have all park segments in a movie may spend their other time hitting powder lines, off camera.

Watching a ski movie is frequently like watching a video game. It's way different when you see the shit in real life. I've heard people talk shit on candide's cork to rail gap because he barely touched much of the rail. But put yourself on the top of that inrun, planning on doing an off axis spin over 50 feet, and landing on metal. Different story.

Bottom line, don't be so judgemental, park and pow/bc are 2 different things, comparison is pretty pointless. This post wasn't about the offtrail movie, I haven't seen it. But some of the shit talking is just plain wrong and uninformed.

Okay I have to put in my 2 cents on this topic. I ride both park and big mountain but more big mountain so I think I have apretty unbias opinion.

My friend hasn't skied in 6 years but this year he picked up his old ass K2 Merlins or something that have been sitting in his closet collecting dust. He skied about 20 days and at the end of the season he could do 360's over 20-25 foot tables and do gaps to the down on a down flat rail. He couldn't however ski very well in powder and he sure as hell wasn't bagging any cliffs.

you see pep, tanner, and cr domminating the park and then killing the big mountains you dont see hugo harrison killing the park, cause he cant park skiing makes you a better skier, gives you air sense and speed sense and control(you have to go very fast to hit a 50 table, and the landing is not soft. i ski powder and i can drop every cliff a powder bum can, the powder bum cant come and throw a cork 5, thats just how it is.

Yeah it's gunna be off the chain.

And don't blame Denali for this movie's downfall. People only hav to take is opinion into consideration if they want to. And if the film sucks then it's no one's fault but Offtrail's. I'm not saying it does suck I haven't seen it but I probably still will regardless of what one person thinks.

Well, one aspect isn't any easier than any other; if it were the standards would just be higher. Sure someone may be able to do a 20 ft table quickly, but I would wager that it would take comparable time to reach Tanner Hall's skill level as Hugo Harrison's. I didn't mean to change this into a Big Mtn. vs Park thread, I just thought it was ludicrous that someone would completely discredit an entire movement in skiing just becuase it stresses being in the air as apposed to on the ground.
Back to filming, I don't think most people realize how much harder it is to film BC lines than park hits. You need transportation, radios, weather and snow, and lots of time for maybe just a couple clips. If a company is gonna make a movie on a small budget, they have to make a choice on whether they want to make a movie with lots of good park footy or a little high quality line shredding (or some combination).

Bottom line, it's all skiing and it all takes skill. If you want to dispute that I suggest you make a new thread and let this thread get back to 'First Light'.

well, just take into consideration who the shit is coming from: two dudes who hate on jibbing and jibbers. first light is a jib flick. if you want to see a sick jib flick, it will leave you satisfied, if you want to see pow lines after pow lines, this won't please you; get a TGR flick.

well, this thread has gone quite rotten, but i have to say that the dudes sayin first light is a sick 'jib flick' are completely correct. If yer into watchin big lines and pow skiing, that's cool but TGR is more yer style. I personally love to ski anyhting in front of me, but when it comes to watching films, i love watching 'jib flicks' and J.Lo made an epic film in this aspect (in my opinion) Seriously, first light is progressive as hell and the talent in that movie is unbelievable, so if you like park and steezy ass skiing, check out first light cuz it will blow yer mind.

OFF TRAIL STEPPED IT UP BIGTIME THIS YEAR. THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE AT 'FIRST LIGHT' PREMIER THAN AT THE TGR AND RAGE/TEAM 13 MOVIE PREMIERS. NOT THAT IT'S A COMPETITION OR ANYTHING BUT OFF TRAIL DID THIS ON ZERO BUDGET UNLIKE THE OTHERS. tgr, and rage films quality were way higher. The fact that the premiere of a local company had so many people has nothing to do with rage films or tgr attendance. over 3/4th of the people were friends. and probably 1/6 was riders. take your show somewhere else and show it where friends and family cant make it then compare.

i dotn even know what to say... to much shit has already been said. but i do know that the pc kids are some of the sickest park riders ive ever been around. and i also think that the majority of the people that are talking shit on here are just mad because they suck in the park, and claim that they are all bigmountain...even though they probably suck there to...im done... good job on the flick. props to max,willy,austin,stephan and becker you guys all had sick stuff, beyond the grasp of most of these haters
