The USDA is buying so called "pink slime" to put in school lunches. "Pink slime" is the term used for a mixture of beef scraps and connective tissue (formerly used only for pet food and rendering) that is treated heavily with ammonia hydroxide to remove pathogens like salmonella and E coli. Even burger king, Tbell, and Mcdonalds stopped using it. And they just placed an order for 7million pounds of it to put in public school lunches....You can read the whole article, and sign a petition against it here: http://www.change.org/petitions/tell-usda-to-stop-using-pink-slime-in-school-food?utm_medium=email&utm_source=action_alert
