Quebecois in general are some of the most joyful individuals, all have "la joie de vivre" (which doesn't even translate in English) then Mr. ThinkHesFunnyGuy from Toronto comes and rains on their parade. One of the reasons some Quebecois (not most, some..) want to separate from Canada is because people like that.

Yes it would directly translate into that.. But it's never said. The English also use "la joie de vivre" it's a French expression that just doesn't get translated.

explain to me how quebec is so important to the rest of canada. please. basically all the other provinces have to pay equalization payments so you guys are sustainable. quebeckers are a minority in canada. almost all of them look down on english speaking canadians. that is also the reason why english speaking canadians don't like them. it's like going to the southern states in the US like mississippi and louisiana and getting beat up because you are white. its no wonder so many white people from those states are ultra conservative racists.

Quebec's population accounts for 24% of Canada, but they only account for 19.8% of Canada's GDP.
Also, their number one exports are to the US (72%) they are not exactly super important to the rest of Canada.

2 entire languages!! my god! but ok I have to agree but only a little because I hate french and I can't learn it.. but I mean.. are you for real?! I live in the netherlands and I haven't met a single person here who doesn't speak at least 2 languages.. usually more.



on a more relevant note.. curling is the shit!

Every province in Canada trades with the US. All of the provinces in Canada share with each other. If Quebec was a sovereign nation we would still trade (the rest of Canada benefiting from Quebec) and Quebec would stop getting equalization payments. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equalization_payments_in_Canada

I do not dislike Quebec, and I am not trying to hate on you. The reason Quebec gets a bad rep sometimes is because of the ignorant separatists whose only argument is "we are the true canadians, we don't need english, we are happy on our own" make up a huge percentage of the province.

Separatist represent a little percentage of the Quebec civilization, why do you guys hate on Quebec when you should only have on those stupid separatists?

And I wonder why Canada cry about french? just learn it. In Europe, people usually learn 2-3 languages without any problem. Stop being lazy and learn 2 languages.

I'm not sure about the other counrty but in France, I know you gotta learn french(of course), english and german or spanish. I mean, how is it so hard to just learn french?

It's not hard but imagine that your whole life you speak english. You've never needed to speak another language and then the government says you have to learn French. You wouldn't be happy about it. Or maybe you should think of it the other way around because that's more realistic for you. Still, it's not about how hard it is to learn to the language. It's about the fact that they don't want to learn the language and don't like being told what to do by the government

IMO learning new languages is fucking awesome! I had the choice to learn spanish at college and I took it, nothing's more helpful than knowing a new language =)

this. took french for three years-- wish I'd have taken spanish because it's more useful, but took a year of that, too, and really enjoy using either when I get the rare chance.
