Thinking about University of Colorado Boulder

Im a sophmore in high school and looking into colleges. I have a 3.8ish and am taking a few APs. Im looking at UC, is the skiing nice and is it a good school? whats up with CUFST?

CU is sweet! Any idea what you'd be majoring in? CUFST is pretty cool, I went to a couple bbq's and a tramp session to meet the team/coaches, and would have loved to be a part of it but it's pretty expensive. You can definitely find tons of people to ski with without joining. As far as the skiing goes, I absolutely love it. Definitely look into a vail resorts pass like the epic local. School wise Boulder is rad. As a freshman, I have an interview on Monday to do research with a Nobel Laureate in the physics department. /claim. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a pm

It's my first year here at CU. Barentine and I live on the same floor, we used to ski all the time, then I took a down flat down to the knee. As far as the school goes, I absolutely love it. I'm a business major, classes are pretty fun, tests are hard. You'll get in just fine with your GPA, so keep it high so you can get some scholarships, they help a ton.

Damnit it's CU not UC how may times must this be said.

Go there you will have more fun than you thought possible. Best 4 years of my life. You want girls? Playboy ranks them in top 20 every year. You want parties? Frequently ranked top 10. You want Good skiing. 5 mountain pass. You want good weather? Over 300 days of sun a year. You want a good football team? We'll too bad but you will still party like crazy.

And if you need more convincing....

looking to major in buisness or something like that. a scholarship would be super nice. I do shitty on standardized tests, is the ACT/SAT scores important?

I mean unless we're talking god awful SAT scores, your GPA is a pretty good indicator of what type of student you are, so I think you'll be fine. But, if you're having troubles with SAT stuff, trust me, get a personal SAT tutor for like two months, one or two times a week, it will help you a ton. Then slay it.

i have like a 3.6 gpa for my junior year, cum is probably around a 3.4 overrall, really interested in CU. just need to work on my sat scoress but thats definetly my #1.

Lick my ass Theron. Sure you have your typical rich out of staters, but then you have me (and many other kids like me) whom are working their asses off to become emancipated from their parents so that we can get instate tuition in a year. Why? cause it's a great school smack dab in the middle of natural beauty.

someone's just jealous.


OP

Pros: Great school, beautiful placement, great skiing only an hour or so away, great herb (if you're into that), great women, wonderful weather, no need to join greek life unless you want to, and you're surrounded by skiers just like yourself.

Cons: Expensive school, alcohol is pricey, fake IDs aren't worth using, typical rich assholes, CSOs (Community Service Officers), and living situations can get expensive after freshman year.

unless it's blacklight and scans (even then you're not entirely safe) count Rosehill Liquor, Sun Deli, and Baseline liquors out. They know it's a college town and crack the fuck down on underage *purchasing* of alcohol.

Table Mesa is the only liquor store that's casual about IDs, so you'll need a car or access to a car to buy alcohol from there if you're a freshman.

you kidding? You can get a handle for like 10-12 bucks...my buddies back home are hard pressed to find one under 20 and 30 racks are like what? $17 or so

Not everything is incredibly expensive. Rolling Rock comes in a cheaper cube than where I'm from, same with coors. But if you're buying from Rosehill liquor.. shit's expensive. Handles of nice liquor that is.


then again you can fill a keg for $65 with Keystone vs. $85 back home (IL). I guess it all depends on the type of alcohol and the quantity honestly.

I think wether or not it is considered pricey is based on where you're from. Here you can get a handle of Five o' clock for 8 or 9 bucks, a 30 rack of PBR for 15 or 16 bucks. Then where my sister goes to school in the Amherst area people will pay 30 bucks for a 30 rack.
