9.4mm thick
1.4 pounds
2048 x 1536 display
quad core a5x processor(apple is saying it is faster then tegra 3)
same cameras as iphone 4s
4g LTE
same prices
inb4 apple hate, they created the modern smartphone and tablet market and are still completely dominating it
and on a side note whoever said about it having an actual operating system would make it better. couldn't agree meow. it would put it in the same realm as "tablet pc's"
fitting in the extra 4g radios, a bigger battery(to give the same battery life), and slightly large components forced them to make it thicker. I'm sure it is as thin as possible with current technology
Well it wasn't on the first page at the time, and your thread is technically about the event it self with some speculation in the OP. Mine states facts up front and has more posts/views, so suck it
So this is just like the iPad2? Which was just like the original iPad?
The innovation coming out of Apple is just astonishing! It's nice to see the Steve Jobs philosophy of producing useless shit, marketing the fuck out of it and calling it innovative hasn't died.
It's not worthless. It's really nice to have, like a digital magazine. I spend 3/4 of my time just internet surfing anyways so I love my iPad 2. Besides, I got it as a present. Never would have paid for one unless I had an extra 800 bucks lying around, but that isn't the case. Sure it's no laptop, but it is what it is, and everyone who owns own loves the crap out of it, assuming they have a desktop/MacBook/laptop on the side for more important things.
I am not really an apple fan but what they are doing is called updating, and it happens with every product, cars, skis computers etc. When newer, better, faster and stronger technologies come out, companies update their products to include them, apple just does a better job marketing each update than anyone else.
I hold it like a folded magazine when I'm on the couch watching tv or other shit. But you indeed gotta watch your posture with it. There was an article on neck pain from using them, but a laptop sitting on the lap is only a few degrees higher and still pains my neck after a while, personally. Then again I am tall. Like a said, it's a digital magazine, and a touchscreen is a joy to use over a trackpad. To each his own, right? Apple's iPad sales records pretty much speak for themselves anyways, and it's not as if buyers go "damn I was fooled and ripped off with this useless thing!", so I dare not begin arguing or justifying the device.
this obsession with looking at screens and touching them confounds me. the other day i was walking on the street downtown, and i saw some guy who was too busy looking at his iPad to notice traffic, and i found myself really fucking hoping he'd get hit by a bus. he didn't, but that would have made my day.
you've gotta wonder how much people miss out on because they're too busy obsessing over some screen. i guess that's why i don't own a laptop or a tablet. sure, i'll use my computer when i wanna use my computer, but it doesn't need to follow me around everywhere. my blackberry generally stays in my pocket unless i'm texting, calling, or googling. call me old-fashioned but real life is way cooler than a fucking touchscreen.
props to apple for changing a few things every year and getting millions of people to buy a "new" product...but i'm not buying not...i don't have any apple products actually.
my mom has an ipad 2. but seriosly, besides a very portable semi-web browser, whats the point of it...? laptops are available at same price and witch much more feats..
It's just a touchscreen bro, no need to get so "confounded". There's a lot of touchscreens out there. I don't bring my iPad many places but it does fly around the house between different rooms a lot. Like dad, "check out this video..." one hand carry iPad to living room "cool son" okay back to my room instead of "dad get up and walk over to the desktop computer seriously you have to come over here and see like the 10th video I've shown you all day" hahah just a dumb example. You ARE old fashioned, you must be in like the 1% of anyone breathing that doesn't even have a LAPTOP! A touchscreen is real life man, it's like Star Trek, get with the times mangggg
as far as it being a touchscreen goes, i just prefer real buttons. i've never had a good experience with touchscreens, maybe because my fingers are thick, probably because they suck. you have a point with the whole "too lazy to walk to a desktop" thing, and i might buy a laptop just so i can lay down and compute at the same time. my parents both have laptops and blackberry playbooks and they love them, me i love my desktop and my cellphone and don't see a use or need for anything else. i'm more focused on the whole looking-at-a-screen-instead-of-what's-in-front-of-you thing i guess. no need to be carrying that shit around everywhere i go, especially if it doesn't even fit in my pocket.
I agree, people that carry iPads around with them on the street with their head in it are fricking boneheads and are probably just hoping to be seen. Often they are older men with gelled rogained n dyed hair to fix the greying city slickers thinking it's trendy and necessary as they are low level petroleum industry executives doing "business work".....idiots. Haha I love stereotyping, it helps my cynism towards the useless tech-obsessed human beings that the major cities pump out these days. Sigh....I'm getting carried away. Oh and you're not a doosh I don't think
