Nikon d5100 vs d90 vs other

hey my birthday was today so i'm in the market for a new camera. between the d5100 and d90 i was learning toward d5100(for best video capabilities and sensor). i've been into mostly photography, but since i have a d60 i haven't tried videography yet. so do you guys think i should go with the d5100, d90, or some video camera? PS- have a nikkor fisheye

Just wait a few months for the D4 to drop, the thing is legit if you're into photography and video. Specs say it will shoot 1080p video at 30fps and will have a very, very, VERY nice sensor. It's much more expensive than your other choices but will deliver quality with all that you're shooting, both photo and video.

If you don't go D4 get the D90 just for it's sensor.

I bought a used D90 an I haven't looked back. The D7000 looks awesome, but I don't have the money for that. The 90 is a much more substantial camera than the 5100.

For what it's worth, the D7000 is cleaner than the 5DmkII, and has more dynamic range. It also has the most advanced matrix metering of all the current Nikons.

i have the D5100 and I've been filming for a while now. its still good but I'm looking to upgrade soon to a d90 or 7000. do research if i suits your needs get it but i love my D5100

I have a d5100 but its just for photography, if i was going to do more video i would definitely have gone for the d7000 or t3i, the d5100 is good as an all around more beginner camera but i would definitely go for the d7000 if i was you.

your suggesting a $6000, full frame camera to someone who clearly isnt in that market? nice

otherwise OP like other people have said, 5100 if your doing more video than photo, 90 if more photo than video. i have used a d90 before, and i will say it is a very capable camera. you wont be disappointed either way, this coming from someone who shoots canon ;)
