NS. What do you do to make the best cup of coffee. We all know there is no right answer here (although plenty of wrong answers).

Aaaron.the ek43 is everything. perfect particle size, perfect distribution, and it spins really fast, which has all sorts of benefits for the grind. also, i drank a siphon of an Colombian Agua Claras earlier today. You should buy a halogen heating element for it, worth every penny.

Laurent.Get a Hario skerton grinder.

Smooooooth plunge.
SklarWhat's a reasonable amount to expect to spend on a decent grinder?
Currently using a shit one left by old tennants, grind is very inconsistent.
I aeropress and chemex mostly
CirilloProbably around $100 for a decent electric burr grinder. The Baratza Encore is $130.
SklarHand grinder as a cheaper alternative?

saskskierPicked up a new grinder and moved things over to a dedicated coffee bar. It was taking up too much space on my countertop.

Aaaron.i'm into it. a friend of mine just bought a linea mini. we have been pulling EK shots on it in his kitchen. so dope
saskskierDefinitely need some work on consistency and evening out my tamping, but still... Even when it's not perfect, the bottomless portafilter is still a thing of beauty.
Aaaron.maybe i'm stuck in 2005, but fuck bottomless filters. too messy. and you can't split shots.

saskskierIf all goes well, upgrading from the Rancilio today... will post pictures later.
CirilloWhat did you end up getting?
saskskierEnded up getting a Bezzera BZ07. Also upgraded my grinder from a Rocky to a Macap M4 about a month ago. Setup is good for a while.

POWDER.RANGERseriously tho, love my black kicking horse 454 from a french press, but its gotten to the point of needing 28-32 ounces of coffee to feel normal each day, which means a solid hour of making and drinking or spending money and travel time on timmies or coffee shops. anyone know any strategies to help cut back? nothing I've tried seems to work

MinggCoffee is garbage I tell ya
saskskierYou clearly don't know what you're talking about.
MinggI had an XL black coffee from Timmy Ho's this morning and it was awful.
saskskierFixed it for you.
Minggoh, okay I'm sorry):
saskskierHa ha. No worries. If that's what floats your boat, that's cool. I just think it's garbage and hate how they've identified themselves as essentially part of what it means to be Canadian.
MinggHonestly pretty disappointed in Canadian Tim Hortons. I have never been able to get an iced coffee there ever. Not in Fort Erie. Not in Niagara Falls. Not in Vancouver.
I like it though. I never really get anything fancy. If I wanted some specialty thing I'd probably consider going somewhere else just cause I'd be willing to spend more and try something else out but yeah. I've never had coffee from Starbucks. And I have only had an iced coffee from dunkin once but it made me sick. So Tim Hortons does me good for now hahaha.
I saw on the interwebs that they were expanding to Europe(maybe England?) which is interesting.
OregonDeadA whole hour per day and that includes drinking your coffee? What do you have to complain about. Drink more french press coffee if you want to. I brew and drink that much every morning and then drink more coffee in the afternoon. Best strategy is not to limit yourself and to drink as much coffee as you want.
GANDALFI am ALL about aeropress coffee. so fucking good. heres my method:
Upside down
3T grounds
1 minute bloom
1 minute brew
30 second press
water @ 180 degrees
