Visual differences in footage in Final Cut Pro?

I've got Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 and I shoot with a Nikon D7000. I drag video files into sequence and then say "Yes" to match sequence to video settings. When I'm in my timeline when my playhead is stopped the video looks normal. When it plays it looks slightly darker as far as the blacks and midtones go. Which quality is the actual quality? So essentially do I color correct to the video as it looks stopped or to the video as it looks while being played?

ive had that happen to me before. it was only a one time deal for me but basically just use the stopped playhead position for monitoring it. when you export it, you shouldn't have any problems. but the codec that the dslrs record in are shitty to edit in
All times are Eastern (-5)
