ill start off by saying that this isnt a "tell me what ski to get because i cant decide for myself" thread, all im trying to say is, its annoying as hell. I wish there was a smaller selection, i mean there are like too many choices.
thats true, but when it gets to the point where there are 10-15 companies all with all mountain/powder/park/pipe and jib skiis, i get just a tad overwhelmed
I disagree. All "genres" of skis tend to overlap in one way or another, depending on the skier. For example, I think a great "all mountain" ski is something in the 115-120mm waist range, whereas someone else may find a great all mountain ski to be in the 90-95mm waist range. Part of chosing a ski is understanding the compromise you're making. (ex. What kind of performance am I losing/making more difficult with a ski like this? What am I gaining with a ski like this?)
well basically heres whats happening (why i made this thread)
Ive had the same pair of lib techs for 3 years now, they're great. but they're de-laming like a mafucka right now and im going to need a new pair for next season, its hard for me to even start to pick a Park ski, which is all i want, because they're are so many options out there
I understand were you're coming from, but you just have to find a ski with specs that meet your riding style (being soft or stiff, symmetrical or not, etc)
There are so many reviews out there on each ski model now that if you're really determined to buy now and you really can't demo, you can at least have a very solid idea of what you're getting yourself into. Like above post says, try to consider what you do, what you want to work on most. I've been in a similar position lately with early rise cambered skis since our conditions have sucked so bad demoing has been useless.
