I'm pretty new to skiing and not sure what kind of skis to start out with. I want to get into rails and stuff like that. I don't want to spend too much money and also need boots too. if anyone has any tips or help please leave a comment so stoked to get out and start skiing!
you could pick up a used pair of skis for not too much. if you want new and are just in it for the park then go with one of the cheaper park skis. like some of the lower end Line skis. no sense dishing out 600 bucks if you're just going to be in the park the whole time wrecking them on rails
I would definitely recommend buying used skis as your first twins, especially if your going to grow out of them in a year or two. There really isnt any brand in specific to get, but k2, line, and armada are good places to start. I was going to do exactly that, but i found last years suspects for $130 new (hesitant /claim). deals can be had in a lot of places, you just have to look.
For boots - definitely go to a reputable local shop and have them look at your feet/fit you for boots. Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods or anywhere shitty like that. For skis - look around online for reviews of different skis and decide what you want. Soft, stiff, rocker, no rocker, etc. then see if you can find something from last year for cheap. Talk to the guys at your local shop, they'll help you out more than most people on NS.
I've heard line masterminds are a good begginer ski but I've never personally ridden them, if you are a heavier skier the chances you will over flex it as they are very soft also I believe there durability is questionable. They seem to recieve mixed reviews.
Check out the Coreupt website. They're really inexpensive but great quality and a super good company. I love my TJs and my buddy loves his Yards. That'd be my #1 recommendation
really stupid idea for a first ski, and i'm the biggest on3p fanboy in the world. on3ps are made for skiers that know how to ski and want a ski that responds when you push them past the limits of what other skis can do. not a beginner ski, not cheap, not really worth skiing until you get to a point where you need a high performance ski.
that being said, line skis are cheap and easy to ski. once you outgrow them ability-wise, buy some o-neps.
Why do people always recommend indy brands to people just starting? There is no need to buy a ski like that for your first season in the park, just go to your local shop and get a price point ski from any company the shop carries. Indy companies are usually either expensive or garbage, and for someone who is just starting out it doesn't make much sense to buy from an unfamiliar company online and have to wait for skis to get shipped in, IMO anyway. Support your local shop.
