Editing multiple formats in Premiere Pro help

Sorry, I'm basically clueless when it comes to video editing, but I was unsuccessful at finding help online, so I thought i'd ask ns. So i'm trying to make an edit with both GoPro footage (960p at 48 fps) along with video from an HDSLR (1080, 30fps). Anyways, when I open Premiere, I have to set a framerate for the project, which by using presets i set to 50 fps (I would have set it to 48, but i don't believe thats possible.) Then, the only way i know to make the video smooth is by setting it to 50 fps, therefore making the GoPro shots slightly faster. However, I have no idea how to incorporate the 1080 video into the same project and make it smooth. When i try to edit it, it come out grainy.

If anyone can interpret this and drop some knowledge, it'd be much appreciated

You should almost always edit at the same frame rate that you plan on exporting your final master file. I'd suggest you work in a 30p sequence since that's what your DSLR footage was shot in. This leaves you with two options for your 540p GoPro footage.

1. You slow it down. I'd imagine that since you shot your GoPro footage at 48 fps, you want to have the option to interpret the footage at 30 fps for some slowmo action.

2. You leave it interpreted at 48p and drop every fifth frame. This will basically make it play in realtime. If you were doing an impeccably smooth dolly move with your GoPro, it might be noticeable that you're dropping some frames, but since you're probably dealing with frenetic helmet-cam footage, nobody will notice.

But editing theory aside, I don't think frame rate changes are why your export is coming out grainy. Most ski filming is so shaky that frame rate inconsistencies are very easily hidden. Sounds more like an export setting problem to me. What format are you exporting as?
