Detuning Edges

I just picked up a pair of brand new Line Blends, and I want to detune the edges for park. However, my other skis (Walls) post detune have almost no edge, and I can't get any grip on ice.

Is there a technique to detuning edges without killing the skis edge hold?

Only detune under the foot and keep the tip and tails sharp, this will allow you to have a slightly better edge while carving.

You should detune the very tip and tail on new skis anyway. underfoot is where you get most of your edge grip, so its kind of a trade off

Take a bastard file and detune under foot. About 4 inches behind your foot, too 4 inches in front of your foot. That way your skis wont be completely worthless on groomers and ice. Then take a gummy stone and run it over your detuned edge to get the burs off, and smooth it out.

just hit rails right away and let the rails detune the skis for you. i tune skis and never have problems with my skis after hitting a rail or two after a full tune.

really? every time I've gotten new skis I always eat it whenever I try rails, now I detune them a little bit and then hit rails then let the rails do the majority of the work

I wouldn't do this man, when edges are sharp they tend to dig into the rail. This will not only hurt, as it can potentially pull part of the edge right off..

Detune with a handfile underfoot, but also accept the fact that if you hit rails a bunch, your edges will get absolutely fucked and their performance on hard snow/ice will basically be non-existent. It is one of those trade offs
