I searchbarred and didn't really find anything, so if this is a repost, dont crucify me. how many of you guys out there play baseball? I just wanna know how many skiers play baseball, and if you don't play, and bash baseball like it's your job, why the hate?
yeeye All my life. I come from what you would call a 'baseball family'. My dad played in college and was the catcher for Team Canada.
my brother is currently playing in Kansas on a scholarship, and my other bro and i still play locally.
i played through my freshman year of college, being from alaska in the baseball world blows cause you get stuck at the bottom of the totem pole just cause where your from.
Ok try catching a deep fly ball over your head, on the run with a glove, that is just a bit wider than your bare hand. I played catcher my whole life. The pitchers on my highschool team were in the 83-92mph range. The reaction time it takes to catch a 90mph fastball .3 seconds. If a pitcher throws a pitch that I'm not expecting, I call curveball and he throws a fast or something, it is literally impossible to catch the ball. If I so much as blink when the ball is coming towards me I will miss it. When freshmen catchers would try and catch the older pitchers they would get knocked the fuck out.And before you says this is all because I suck. I played at a very high level, won a 5a state title on the 18th nationally ranked team.
played baseball from age 5-17. Quit my Senior year to snowboard.
Played Outfield and pitched like 2 times. Cant wack the dirty 12/6 maxed at like 76 mph though :(
Our HS ball schedule was nuts. Around 148 games a season. Started in March. Legion started right after School Ball was over. Didn't have districts until August.
It was an all year program for sure if you went to all the off season workouts.
we were good too
2nd at state Sophomore year
3rd Jr year
1st Senior Year
Im from Idaho but we played in a wood bat tourny in Colorado and won and A small tourny in LA and lost 2 out of the 6 games we played.
Not very many kids go on from my school though. No one looks at po dunk towns and the competition isn't really around.
i hate baseball, mostly because the kids think they're athletic as fuck just because they can stand around on dirt all day. tell me why MLB guys are fat? because it doesnt take any damn athleticism. im sure its hard and all to hit a ball going that fast, but Y U NO SKINNY?
You try hitting a 95mph fast ball and then come back here, also to all of the athleticism shit, MLB tryouts, the first thing you do is run, and unless you are known to be a fantastic hitter, if you can't run a 60 in less than 7 seconds, you might as well leave. And to the guy who was claiming his 40, your sixty would be roughly 6.8 seconds, you barely cut it
Fuck You. I'd love to see you in the batters box against some of my friends that pitch. they'd brush your cocky disrespecrtful ass back so far off the plate you'd have to go clean your fuckin pants out before you could step back in the box. All sports require beinf athletic. And if those "Fat MLB Guys" can hit towering homeruns 425+ feet, why cant you?
Im 16 now and ive played my whole life. I was ass until I was 10, then i developed hand eye coordination. Was good enough to make one of the top little league teams in New York as the last man when i was 10 11 and 12. Those were my glory days of ball, continued playing travel and all stars but my team from little league was split up by kids who went to play for "elite" travel teams. I'm just playing rec this year and Ive never been more excited to start playing again.
Ya all these dicks saying it doesnt take athleticism to play baseball bc if does. Once they can hit a 95 mph fastball they can talk. I'm only 13 and some kids we face pitch 75 mph. But I batted about.400 last year
at least you think its fun to play some softball or whatever... but seriously baseball takes athleticism... try telling me that throwing a ball into a small target 60 feet away at 90 miles per hour takes no athleticism, plus its not like you dont do any running in baseball, which is all track is.
It takes skill...not athleticism...something differant. Bowling a 300 game takes skill yet the majority of bowlers who can bowl perfect games are 280 lb fatass's that eat McDonalds religiously....definetly not athletes in my eyes.
And yes you do running in baseball, but its not timed and nobody cares if you run a 5.4 - 40 yard dash...try running that in track and see how far you get...
i don't think thats exactly how he meant it, but yea being barely fast enough to possibly play pro baseball is still awesome, but running isnt the only part of the game. so you would excel in 1 out of the main 4 elements of baseball.
