A couple years ago, a guy tried to gap the first two jumps at tremblant, like take off the first one and land on the landing for the second jump. He really didn't make it. So if anyone knows what I'm talking about I was wondering if anyone knew if it was recorded?
Paul Arnold, a young snowboarder was in the park early morning at Stoneham, Quebec. After warm ups, the guys checked out the jumps in the park (when they had them). Paul went for it without checking it out. The jump was huge and Paul went big, flying 70 feet to flat. He had a series of seizured and later died in hospital from internal bleeding.
Possible misinterpretation aside, is there any real fact that he actually tried to gap from one jump's landing to the other, or did he just take the first one with massively too much speed, dying in the process?
he landed on the up of the next jump... it's pretty safe to assume he was being an idiot and was probably attempting something idiotic... or he never hit a jump before.
The Paul Arnold Story is diffrent from the Tremblant story. The Arnold story he overshot the landing and crushed himself. At Tremblant, it is a myth...you know the deal right? Vids or it never happened
google chrome translation gave me this (with a couple of bits missing that i tried to guess)
-first jump in the park, large kicker, not so great distance (15 feet if im guessing correctly, maybe its yards)
-over shot, took it about 70 feet?
-seizures/convulsing when friends got to him
-internal injuries (cranial/brain)
-taken to hospital
-one person said he died in transport from one hospital to another
-was riding with friends of friends, most of the group stopped at the top of the park while he continued on, carrying too much speed.
doesn't sound like any of it was an attempt at making it to the landing of the next jump.
