Popups occuring in spite of adblock

not that this is particularly a big deal, just thought i should make someone aware.

normal ads aren't a problem and i wouldn't post this otherwise. but popups are a bit intrusive

Unless he clicks on ads normally, it doesn't make a difference. Get over yourself.

I've never seen one of these popups, has that been just on NS?

some ads are payed for on a per-impression basis. they have a CPM, cost per mille. or cost per thousand times the ad is seen. In those cases adblock does in fact make a huge difference as the ads are not being loaded and there are fewer impressions resulting in less profit. If I remember I think Bishop said in another thread that the ads on NS generate revenue based on their impressions, it doesn't matter whether they're clicked on or not. Although I'm sure clicking them generates even more.

but for a sports site it's probably like a $5 CPM. so your $50 donation would be a good 10,000 individual page views. (my math could be way way off on this).

If you're right, then I humbly take it back. However I remember him saying clicking adds = $$$ and I got the impression that was the only way it worked.
