Why does my compact flash card say it completely full when there is nothing on it

There is only one folder on my cf card and it is completely empty, what is going on +k for anyone who can help!!!!

this. even when you delete everything off the card, it won't empty it. you have to format it to actually empty it

yeah what they said ^ also you probably moved the stuff to the trash then didn't empty the trash before you removed the card, that won't erase everything either

this. common mistake...

you don't HAVE to format the card every time as mentioned above to completely delete files if you remember to delete them from your card AND trash (trash before removing the card from the computer)
