Mt. Hood question

Can you buy lift tickets to mt. Hood without being at the camp? Or is there a decent hill at hood that's open in the summer where you don't have to be in a camp session to shred? Thanks ns!

Timberline ski area, the resort that hosts all of the camps has a public park open during summer. I recommend checking out their website for prices

Lift tickets are usually around $55. The timberline public park is usually pretty sick. They have around a 7 jump line with the biggest being around 30ft to 40ft. And they have some nice rails.
Also, it is really easy to sneak into Windells and MHSSC private parks. You would be able to. But I think the pub park is worth shreddin'

well i think its just like any other mountain where there a publick section. i think only some of the mountain is private land for camps like windells, mhssc, or hcsc

windells park is easier than MHSSC, for the sole reason that mhssc is smaller and its easy to tell who's there and who's not.

anyone wearing baggy clothing and park skis can tag along with a group and go into the windells park

Windells doesn't have any protection.
You just ski in and bam, you're in their park.

seen the coaches go after poachers in the windells park a couple times, they will just tell you to fuck off. timberline pub park is def worth it though. shit is mobbed like fuck on weekends too. but again, worth it.

anybody know what the camping situation is in the area? like if i wanted to go there for a month this summer and live out of my tent, are there areas where youre allowed to do that for reasonably cheap?

ya its pretty mobbed in the summer as far as camping goes but you can find some good spots near government camp.

Camping - done at the airstrip...rangers may come in and tell you to move if it's been a 2 week period...simple though...just move spots. IT's FREE

5-10 drive from your tent to the lodge. perfection.

as said...50-60 dollar ticket prices depending on the year.

This trip is seriously a fucking blast and can be what you make of it.

Hell we met the chillest group of boarders this past summer... had the camp spot with the concrete slab in the middle of their site... which led to bringing in their team van and setting up skate ramps/rails.

Government camp for drinking, "groceries", and fire wood if you don't wanna chop shit yourself

Been the past 3 years and will def. be makin it out this summer. Can't wait.

yeah you have no idea what your talking about

windells gets real pissed when people poached i would recommend not doing that. Maybe make friends with a coach or campers. There not assholes they just dont want to get sued. Its completely understandable and plus public park is usually so much fun.

Back in the day, sneaking in was easier. Nowadays, not so much. Really, there is no need. The public park is usually quite nice and more than adequate for some days of summer skiing.

Ditto the airstrip for camping. No need to spend money at a campground or hotel.

I can attest that we are cracking down on poachers at Windells. I have pulled season passes and day tickets before. All of our coaches have the right to take your pull your pass, and they are on the lookout for it. It is a HUGE liability for poachers to be in our park and it is something that we take very serious. Don't ruin you're whole trip by poaching the park. The public park is very good and was good all of last summer. The truth is, if you want to ride the Windells park you have to pay. It costs us a lot of money to maintain and have the lane on the hill, plus I would love to not have to focus on poachers everyday and focus on helping my coaches and the kids progress.

Agreed. My friend and i drove out for PA and camped at Trillium Lake (same area as the Air Strip). doing it again this summer, best experience of my life! Govy is the place to be!

Good luck poaching Windells park.

OCHO is spot on,  we cannot have anyone in our park who is not there for camp.  It is a huge liability for Windells and Timberline. We just had a meeting with timberline, and this year we are going to be monitoring everyone who comes into our park.  We are going to have staff station at the entrance of our park to make sure that you have a Windells park pass, Lift ticket and Windells wrist band, everyone else will be turned away.  Anybody caught inside our park will have thier lift ticket or pass pulled.

id like to add something tho. I buy day passes to timberline all the time. I am a local to Mt. hood. I always want to ride your park but the price to do so for even a day or a week or whatever is you sell is absurd. Why cant you sell something a little cheaper?

Because our campers pay a lot of money to come ride our private park, if we let everyone buy day passes it would no longer be a private park and would definitely be over crowded.

Aren't your campers paying for progression and coaching from pros, etc... I thought that's why these teens pay a shit ton of money to come to windells, the park is obviously an important feature but you don't see woodward not letting people use their features who aren't campers(during certain times). 

Just my 2 cents.

You cant pay for progression, that just doesn't make sense. Yes they get to be coached by pros, and work on their skiing, what better place to do it than in our own private park?
