Im not talking about cranking your trucks down so tight you cant turn well at rolling speeds. all I'm saying is that tighter trucks reduce wobble. Your talking about getting trucks that supposedly get no wobble and are telling me riding tight trucks will help someone who has no interest in downhill? I don't see the point of riding trucks near dead space loose at over 40. in the middle of lose and tight is where i ride if im skating over 40.

think off it as car springs, if there tight as shit the car is going to respong easily. Therfore when you trucks are tight any movement will jolt you one way sending you into a speed wobble of death. I dont know but i deffinately like the more loose truck route.

How about we don't regurgitate half of the noon section of the forum on Shitterfish, and drop the wobble talk. Here's the layout of why wobbles happen, how to prevent them:

Wobbles happen when a rider has too much weight on his back truck, making it adapt to the road more than the front. You always want your front truck doing the turning, because you can effectively put more weight on it while still keeping control of your rear truck. ALL WOBBLES COME FROM YOUR BACK TRUCK.

To prevent wobs:

1. Get off the internet, and go ride hills.

2. Lean waaay forwards and breathe deep if they start. Sounds corny, but she works.

3. Loosen up your legs, and adapt the swerves with them, instead of letting your trucks take the fall of your terrible balance.

4. If you're doing 40+ runs, consider reducing the angle of your rear truck by de wedging with angle risers. For tech runs, I had my Tutone setup with a 65 degree front truck, and a 38 in the back.

5. Don't ride a fucking Loaded or Original then say its not stable. They are cruisers/flatland boards (firewood), so don't expect the limp dick of a flex to hold up on a rough road while you are ripping. Ride a stiff deck.



The most important part: Learn to do a shutdown slide. Personally, I like a toe-side pendy, that I can drag out as long as I need, as fast as I want, and still in control. Never go faster than you are comfortable going into a slide at. Always be able to shut down.

I prefer colemans for shut downs. Much less sketchy at 35+ because you're chest is facing downhill the whole time, so you never have to go blind. Toesides work at anything under 30, but anything over I would highly recommend getting those Coleman's on lock. Plus its fun to go from 35 to 0 and get a triple pendy in the process. Lastly: colemans are steezier

I just got this krown for $100 to start me off and do far it's pretty sick. Anyone know any beginner tricks? Also, How much do the bearings matter because it loses speed pretty fast.

Bearings arnt that important. Dont spend money on ceramics, just get bones reds. Find some hills and it wont matter how long those wheels roll off of a push

Hey i have a question. I have Gullwing DLX's and they are 50 degrees. So, if I wanted a lower degree truck, would it make a 40 degree angle if i were to flip the truck around 180 degrees? like detatch the truck and flip around? Im just kind of curious because I dont really want to have to buy angled risers.

I have rode a few of them and they are sort of sketchy. I have side 10.5 feet and the take up the whole board. YUou will need good balance to crusie around a skate park with them but you could do it. I would suggest like a smaller cruiser board, instead of a penny board. Just my two cents though.

If you mean take the entire truck off then flip it around so the part that was pointing out now points in toward the center of the board. NO. Does not work like that. I believe if you mount trucks backwards to can lean left and turn right though. Pretty strange looking.

If you mean flipping the hanger, no because those are normal kingpin trucks and I have no clue how that would ride. Angled risers are what you need.

I finally went down a hill where I had to slow down before a turn recently. Probably had a fuck yeah face on while doing so and felt like I was racing cause the road was all windy. I like colemans for slowing down. Also metro motions are awesome.

Just got a Bustin Maestro, grizzly trucks, bustin wheels, and bones red bearings. Anyone else tried the Bustin Maestro? I've heard mixed reviews about it what do you guys think?

It's a really fun board for city style riding, slides predictably, not really great for any one discipline, but good at everything.

has anyone who is moderately good at sliding had comparisons between the Otang Stims and the Abec11 flashbacks? Which slide smoother, faster, easier to initiate, cone faster, flatspot, etc. I just want like a comparison. I have stims now and want the flashbacks because i heard they slide amazingly smooth and controlled.

the flashies will wear quicker but slide like butter. and as long as you aren't busting 50 foot 90 degree slides you shouldn't flat spot them. You shouldn't really slide at 90 degrees anyways. great wheels.

i recomend tunnel wheels, there cheap, really grippy and hold up. i have had them for 2 years and there are no holes in them.

Okay, motherfuckers. Lets set some shit straight:

FREERIDE is different than SLIDE. SLIDE is technical and generally slower. To qualify as SLIDING, it has to be on a popsicle shaped deck, with 90a+ wheels that are <65mm. (google Fernando Yuppie)

FREERIDE is sliding, only on a longboard with soft wheels ( <88a ) that's about scrubbing speed, or holding slides. Not going for a 720 blunt.

FREERIDE WHEELS:

Abec 11: Flashbacks, Freerides, CS Freerides, 76mm Flywheels, 65mm <86a Noskools, Often times Grippins or Classic Zigs, Pink Powerballs

Crap-tang: Stims, Durians, FatFrees

Venom: Tweakers, Cannibals if you ride really fast, and Sidewinders

Cult: Classics, Converters

Misc: EW Slide Bs, Sector 9 RFs, Divine City Slayers, Fireballs, Metro Motions, Nersh Smoothies, Volante Checkers, LY Zombies

SLIDE WHEELS:

EW Slide As, Abec 11 NoSkools, Retro Invertz, Pink P-52s, Rainskates, etc.

DOWNHILL/SLALOM WHEELS:

Anything square-lipped of your choice

ALL REVERSE KINGPIN TRUCKS RIDE SIMILAR. BASEPLATE ANGLES ARE SUBJECT TO PREFERENCE. HIGHER ANGLE = MORE TURN, BUT LESS STABILITY

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, LIKE "wut bord do i git?" CAN BE ANSWERED WITH GOOGLE.

Quick question regarding full coleman slides. Ok so I am definitely going fast enough when I try them, but I always get caught up at 180 degrees and cant rotate back, instead my board just seems to carve instead of engage in the slide, and tips?

What I do, is I never grab my deck while drifting or sliding, but some find it easier while grabbing. Initiate the slide much slower than usual, go faster, as soon as you start to feel your wheels grip back up again, lean more onto your hand and push what would be your front foot out. It also helps to look back while you are learning.

get your non slide hand up in the air

go fast

push your trailing foot out and suck your leading foot in while turning your head/shoulders the direction you want to turn in the slide.

I don't have a problem initiating the slide, I just rotate all the way around and I can't get back to normal because I can't get my board to slip.
