it's alright, maybe a bit too flexy, and now that I've got the 9two5, pretty high of the ground. I love original trucks for cruising, though. I'd recommend a stiffer board with the same truck setup.

i lost my Jakes Sector 9 board, with seismic tektons (amazing), sector 9 nineballs, and gullwing bombers. i think it was stolen.

now i have Sector 9 Deserts deck, sector nine bearings (the $20 ones), purple Otang 4presidants, and Gullwing chargers.

looking for a stiffer deck and abec 11 flashbacks.

daddies board shop has good set-ups for cheap btw.

Don't. It's fun for a while, but if you want to progress at all, a flexy board will be poopoo in a month. Anything drop thru and stiff will replace that board in every aspect.

Definitely the Landyachtz. I have heard only amazing things about the 9two5. I have a switchblade and love it, and I love to ride my friends 9two5 equally as much. I am 90% sure that you do not need special trucks. All of by boards are drop throughs and all of my trucks work with them.

Short answer: Buy anything dropped of some kind and stiff. You will have more fun than rocking a topmount for your first deck. (925, DSpeed, Nemesis, Haste Revline, Hellcat, etc) with RKP trucks (Bear, Randall, Paris, Cal, Gunmetal) and 69-76mm 78-82a wheels (Zombies, A-11 Freerides or flashies, EW Slide Bs, etc)

People run boards with three trucks in races and stuff, you have to wedge the two next to each other in some special way to get it to work properly.

Just got some 80a metro motions, so great for slides.

stoked I finally figured out big standy heelsides, like i could do some drifts and 180's before, but 10 to 20 foot standies are the bomb!

thats when it starts getting fun. Learn big checks, there fun. Over the summer I was pushing 40 foot checks. But when you start learning technical slides like no complies, slide shove its, one footers, no taps, and tailwhips...thats when it really gets fun.

well this would be my first board like ive longboarded before but never had my own board, could you point me in the direction of some boards that would be good for a beginner but also still good for when i can start doing more stuff but also just a good board for cruising around town and carving down hills

I have decided i need a new longboard, I'm thinking loaded dervish, or landychatz battle axe. I'm mostly cruising and doing medium-not quite large hills, any other suggestions?

super stoked on it, my friend built the deck, and i added clear griptape, spray painted it myself, and I'm pretty stoked on the outcome.

Get a drop through or a top mount. I prefer the feel of a top mount personally, they just feel right, and are not harder to slide when you get good.

there are many more good options for dropthroughs but I can't remember them off of the top of my head, all of my friends converted back to topmounts and I don't remember what boards they rode.

I ride a jet machine. Love it, especially the rear foot platform. you can dig your back toes into the corner of it and its mad comy for toeside checks.

However probably my favorite board on here is the LifeLong Seeker. It has great W concave that locks you in nicely, and double kicks which are super fun.
My friend rides for lifelong (Chris O'Brien).
The company is super legit and full of stoke.
They are based out of the east coast in Massachusetts and are relatively new but already have an amazing reputation.

Spark notes:

get a life long seeker, caliber 50 trucks, and for wheels 78/81 abec 11 flashbacks or freerides, or pink powerballs, or yellow/purple otang fat frees, or baluts.

Fuck those. They feel as shitty as original. If you ride enough, wobbles will disappear soon enough. Lean forward and breathe deep. If they're really an issue, de-wedge your rear truck to around 30 degrees

Skip the durians. They're just god awful. If you really want to get otang I would stick with orange or yellow stims/fat frees (fat frees are better, stims slide OK untill there about the size of a fat free and thats when they are great). Or you could get baluts in purple or orange.

My Personal Favorite Wheels:

Abec 11 Flashbacks (78a)
yellow fat frees (86a)
Pink Powerballs (78a)


AND REMEMBER!
always use bearing spacers!

These look weird, if you are having trouble with wobble tighten your your trucks and get used to riding at higher speeds. i ride 42* paris 195s and they are prime. I have gone 45+ mph on them just fine. it all comes down to experience and putting a lot of your weight near the front truck. i would recommend randal 180's or paris 195s with 42* plates if you don't already have them and are looking at getting new trucks.

you'd suggest randals as DH trucks? and you'd suggest cranking down on the tightness to reduce wobble? all that does is increase the rebound which makes wobbles worse.

Randalls work fine for dh, as do any truck. It's all preference. No truck eliminates wobble. If you wobble on paris's youll wobble on a randalls, calibers, bears, munkaes, aeras, surf rods, buzzed trucks, etc.

Solution to wobbles: dont go straight to the big hills. Work your way up. Start with 15, than 20, than 25, than 30, 35, 40, 45 and on. That's what I did and working my way to 45 over time taught me board feel and balance (plus a whole lot of free-riding on the way).

You're not goign to be tucking 50 your first month of longboarding.

randalls do work fine, as they are what I have on my DH board just because I have so many of the damn things, but I honestly prefer the board feel of say for instance buzzed over my randalls. now do they make sense for a beginner, probably not, because they cost a damn fortune, but when reccomending a DH truck randalls arent the first thing to come to mind, at least not for me... but thats not worth arguing about, haha.

and as for going 50, 52 is my top speed so far and I've been riding for years, so yeah, I'd say 40 is far above and beyond the reach of most beginners but once you figure out the basics of a tuck (watch some youtube videos) it's really just a matter of finding a long straight hill like you said and going 20 feet higher each run until you find the point at which your desire to go faster is limited by the balls you have. as for now I like to keep things under 45 because i still feel comfortable throwing a coleman up to those speeds. as for the crazy fucks that throw standies at 45... those people are the ones I'll never understand...

How does tightening trucks create worse wobble?? tightening trucks reduces your lean and slop of your truck, thus reducing wobble and I am also not talking about tightening your truck so much you cant turn.

fucks with the rebound, once you get over about 35 - 40 no matter how tight your trucks are the board will still turn quick enough to initiate wobble. At that point it all comes down to technique. Pro downhill riders keep their trucks loose enough that they can ride full circle in the width of a normal road.

I mean, I guess riding tight will help someone who has no interest in actual downhill, but it's not really beneficial for someone who wants to progress their game.

annnnd i guess it all really comes down to preference... whatever floats yer boat.
