I need to warranty my paris (parises?). Kingpin is broke, axels are a bit more bent than they should be.
In the meantime I'll need something else so don't have to keep switching trucks from my other setup. Thinking of 44 cals or indys, obviously two totally different trucks. This would be for my dh setup.

So for those who ride 44s, do they feel dead, or would they feel dead even with soft bushings? I run 83a reflex bottom and 85a khiro top right now, but I feel like I'll at least have to put the 85a on the bottom on lower degree plates. I'm used to 50s for everything, just looking for a bit more lean.

Plus this board looks so awesome with green cals. Just re did the edges/wells in a grayish brown stain too.

Can someone reccomend me some good wheels for cruising in? Right now I have some zombie hawks ones I think, and idk if they're good for cruising or not, I know nothing about longboarding

Any wheel is fine for cruising really, and usually one on the softer side of things will be more comfortable. What duro are they? Also zombie hawgs.

I would go with a 44 cal, I rode a 50 cal and I though it felt similar to Paris, little more stable. I am riding a pair of 45 degree Rey and can say I like lower than 50 baseplates so much more than I thought I would! Personally I have never ridden 44 calls but imagine that they will ride quite we'll for dh and free ride. But if you have an extra 140 bucks for Rey's they are worth it

Sorry for dub post but they shouldnt feel dead but it depends on our weight but its better to run softer duro a little tight than a harder duro a little loose

Alright, anyone on here planning on getting the original apex 40 diamond drop when it comes out. I know you most of you guys hate original but if anyone has the apex 40 and can give me a review that would be great. Also I still can't get stand ups so any tips in that area would be appreciated.

Well I haven't ridden an apex 40 but I have stood on one in a shop and it feels pretty nice on your feet but Its like a 3 ply with shit tons of fiberglass. Its no cheap deck either, sitting at about 210 I wouldnt say its worth it. I would also be worried about durability with it only being a 3 or 4 ply. The fiberglass can only do so much. As far as standies go, its a lot of weight placement, commitment, and speed. Set up carves are huge and I find keeping my hips low to start the slide and then slowly coming up helps. Also more front foot weight helps to get the back wheels to let loose

Alright I'll try those things next time I go for a stand-up. I think the apex 40 is pretty durable based on this.

i think you need to more worried about durability when it comes to slamming into curbs then going on ramps

i warrenty'd one of my paris 180's cause my dervish got ran over by a car, board just flexed and was fine, but one of the trucks got bent out the ass. i told um it just bent from sliding too hard and doing too big of standies and they sent me a new one. great company to work with though

after more than a month off the board i went to the climbing gym on my board, straight through the city! First few minutes were a bit strange but quickly got the hang of it again, i even got a hang-on lift from an interested pizza delivery guy on a scooter who wanted to know if it was hard to do and where he could get a board :P

On my way back i carved down a sweet mellow downhill, driffting every turn, it was sweet to get back on my wheels !

now just have to see i get back into it cause end of the month my friends are organizing a small contest, so just have to make sure i don't make a fool of myself :P

This exactly, yes a board does take a lot of abuse due to ramps and what not but slamming curbs is so much more common than hitting that big or ramps. I have seen many cracked nose/tails from curbs and no one wants to spend 30$ per nose guard. But check out get longboards revolver, a board built to do the same abuse as the apex 40, 70$ cheaper and when you curb it, it just bounces off. Coming from experince, I didn't it and thought it was done but it glanced off the curb and other walls and obstacles very nicely

BC Barracuda, Landyachtz Ripple Ridge, Landyachtz Trooper, Loaded Ceviche, Rayne Timeline, Earthwing Frequent Flyer, Earthwing Miniglider. These are all very small, light and compact boards that will be very convenient for getting around campus/the city. These are also all topmount boards. Drop throughs are generally longer and more annoying in class. But they are lower to the ground, therefore easier to push. I do know that the Bustin Maestro Mini is very small though, and it's drop-through. You may want to look in to that.

Research all of these and find what fits you/your budget best. PM me with any questions and I'l' be glad to help.

Fuck I really wish my town had good streets to longboard on. Half are like gravel and the other half are bumpy as shit. There are only like 3 good paved streets in my town that are rideable, and usually I just cruise up and down this one stretch that has nice pavement. Its only like a 1/4 kilometer stretch though so it gets boring. Not to mention my town only has about 12 streets in total.

He still is a fat douche bag. He and his friends beet up my friend who was tripping on acid. Then threw two big fire crackers on my friends car, which blasted the windshield in and damaged some of the hood. We didn't even know him personally before that. The kid is a pussy cunt, I don't care how good he is at skating he get such a big ego and thinks he can treat others like shit because he is better then them.

Bombing (Straights with mellow turns, little to no drifting corners): Evo, 50 Cals, Tektons, Lime Bigzigs.
Tech DH (Many turns, many drifts): Grease Hammer, 44 Cals, Tektons, Pink 7-0's.

I went with indys for my dh board from a few posts (and many months) back. And I modified that board to have a 27.5" wb and larger cutouts so I can run grip wheels with no issues. The indys are great, they turn, lean, and are low. It took me like two runs to get used to them. I'm a lot more confident on that board now.

Heres my rant:
Otangs are loud and slide bad, 80a are the best. In heat is best from them.
All abec 11 classic thane are good, side set freerides are good.
Cult classics, sector 9 butterballs, and abec freerides are good for long standies.
Sector9 boards suck, exception on the daisy and roxanne.
Loaded boards are wayyyyy over priced, but can take a shit ton of beatdown.
Landyachtz are generally good. Wolf shark, peacemaker, 9two5, switchblade are amazing.
Rayne boards are good, kinda heavy, can also take a beating. Renegade is amazing tech sliding board.
Longboard larry makes amazing boards with concave, lunchbox for lyfe.
Nelson stingray is the shit. New board called the double kick or something looks crazy.
Paris trucks are good starters. V2's look cool.
Bear have a bad turn radius, not the best truck.
Calibre purple funk are sick, same with the blue ones.
Buzzed trucks, ronin truckd.and surf rodz make the best precision hands down.
Black panther bearings spin amazing, textons, and builtins are good too.
Blood orange and riptide bushings are good.
Holesom bubblegum scented puck for lyfe. And ogoom is sick too

Cool to see that this thread has been resurrected. Just got a bunch of new wheels and dusted off the quiver a couple weeks ago. I've been into longboarding for years now but only started doing DH and freeride last summer. No matter how much of a bad rep the sport gets from kids pushing around mongo that couldn't skateboard I'm still proud to represent it.

Shasta.purpi like drop through, keeps you lower to the ground. i hate my first board i got, it was 5 inches off the ground whereas my landyachtz is like 2!


Thats the way mine is, I love the leverage and can carve it so deep. Horrible for speed though. For some reason I've never even rode a drop through, always wanted to see what the difference is
