It seams like whenever I get a lot of karma built up some loser comes in and rates me a 0. This getting annoying. Who else hates downraters?

they can see how many (and who) has rated you each karma value i think

it's just a list of members ranked by rating and nothing else so it's pretty difficult to find out who's recently been giving ratings or shit, only real use would be to track down karma aliases and remove their rating

+ most people rate either 10/10 or 0/10 (5/10 is also pretty common)

so don't get annoyed if someone bumps down your karma, all it takes is one bad word or argument and people will start rating you 0/10 ...
it happens to everybody so imho it's pretty fair ....

I think it's pretty dumb to rate members 0/10 or 10/10 Mainly because, is what they said really worth 0/10 or 10/10? People get in arguments that are opinion based, and all of a sudden two people don't hold the same opinion so boom, karma rape...... Also, it's annoying when people rate 10/10 right off the hop. If you do this, you can never give them more. I mean, I rate people up to like a 7 to begin with, and more and more good stuff they post, I rate them up another one.

However OP if you don't want a karma rape, don't post in places where its a shit storm, where there is a large argument, or where something might offend someone. If you wan't to generate karma, be a positive member and contribute as much as you can to the site.

i wish i could see who gave me a 0 and that people could see that i gave them a zero and the same with 10s because some people deserve to know that everyone thinks that they are a shithead, but also people need to know when the are bosses as well

Honest question to OP and those similar: What benefit is there in having karma?

 What matters are your posts (barely...it is the internet and this is a semi-anonymous, absurdly short memoried community) and your overall contribution. Treat NS like an incredibly addictive time-waster, a resource for info, and content. The rest means nothing, duder.

Yeah I don't care anymore. It's not a bog deal to me anymore. It was just annoying to have a lot and to just see it disappear because of some narrow died people, oh well.

Maybe it's because you quote replied your post in "what outerwear are you wearing" so more people could see it and say, "omg your jibrish iz so steazeey". Maybe it's because you posted a picture in that thread that said "this is what I wear to meet tom walllisch and mike hornbeck." Maybe it's because you made a thread complaining about how your hill is closing for the season, when many others have had worse seasons than you. Finally, maybe it's because you just made a thread about your karma being low.

one of my big pet peeves is anyone writing "first, second, third, so on so forth" to anything content or news related. I tend to dish out -k for that. i feel like this hasn't been happending as much lately so maybe its working.
