I like him far more than the other remaining candidates, but I would probably vote for Obama over Paul. I don't really agree with his economic policies and isolationist foreign policy. While I certainly do not agree with our involvement in the Middle East, I don't think we should pull out of the UN and dissolve NATO as Paul wants to do. The US has always been a policing force in the world and although it does cost money, I believe it is our duty to protect human rights and prevent atrocities given our position as a superpower. I also have a huge problem with his views on nuclear proliferation. Paul would do nothing to stop nations such as Iran and North Korea from developing nuclear weapons. Anyone who preaches about constitutional rights, but has proven again and again to be a racist, is not a good candidate for President. His anti-abortion stance also disagrees with his belief in the rights of the individual.

woozy, I have a question. Why exactly do you think students are becoming less intelligent? I understand that you think more spending isn't the solution, but I would like to know what you think the solution is.

He is not an isolationist candidate. He just doesn't want the US to be the policeman of the world. From a ethical and fiscal standpoint, it makes sense. Why should American citizens feel that we are morally responsible to forcefully extend our "democratic and Western" values on other cultures? Are we honestly that arrogant to believe that we know better? Nonetheless, money and "aid" seem to end up in the wrong hands during these types of foreign discretionary spending more often than not. We gave tons of money and weapons to the Taliban during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s. We supported President Mubarak in Egypt and gave him around $2 billion annually. For the past 30 years, we have also been giving money directly to Pakistan's intelligence bureaucracy, the ISI. Since September 11th alone, an estimated $18 billion has been deposited in the Pakistani's coffers. You can see where I'm going here.



Economically, by cutting foreign military spending and foreign aid, we can seriously payoff a large chunk of our nations debt. At this point in time, this is the only viable way to get government spending somewhat under control. National debt has exceeded our entire annual GDP. Long term debt projections look even worse. How do all empires loose control and become something to read in a history book? The destruction of currency through monetary inflation and an excess of debt. Just this week, Bernanke said he was going to fire up the printing presses yet again to pay for our budget deficits. Where is this money coming from? Is there a secret government money-tree farm where they are generating enough to pull this off? This exact formula brought down some of the biggest empires in history such as the Romans, the 2nd Reich in Germany and the Soviet Union.

i agree with you woozy that simply throwing more money into the dpt or education wont improve education. however, it does need more money and not to get deleted. We need a national education system similar to that of other successful countries like finland.

i question the department of education all the time, but in what it's doing, not whether it should exist or not.

more Tv time, crappy diet, little/no exercise, drugs (alcohol) at younger ages, to name a few obvious ones. Societies movement away from the perfect nuclear families, more individual freedom at younger ages. We live in a different time

Paul keeps denying that he's made a deal with Romney, but a number of analysts keep claiming that he has made a deal with Romney (that Paul and his son Rand will be in Romney's office if Romney wins the nomination). I sincerely hope this is true because Ron's not going to win the nomination, but if he's in Romney's office he will have the opportunity to finally voice his opinion at the highest level.

I really think ron paul is a good person but unfortunately i highly doubt he will be nominated because some of his views are just too "out there." IMO he's the only likable republican candidate, and the only candidate who would actually have a chance against obama.

A theory in scientific terms is not the same as everyday terms. A scientific theory must have reliable, factual evidence in order to be called a theory. A religious theory does not have these things therefore cannot even be compared to a scientific theory.
