Dom Laporte's last shot was so filthy. my mouth literally dropped open.

And i think torvinen or dom deserve to win it. im a little biased toward torvinen though cause he is a fellow minnesotan.

Really depends on what they want, butt I could see any of these guys winning, they are definatly all worthy. I would say the most impressive edit came from Dom tho, thatd be my choice, although I am biased towards QC riders and urban.

honestly their biggest crutch seems to be that they keep picking riders they can't actually film with. Pick someone from north america who actually slays and is motivated to ski

quality post... on mobie, pardon the wall of text. as far as the whole "truly unknown" aspect to super unknown...just drop it. anyone with the talent, and more importantly the ambition to be in a level 1 flick, has almost definitely been filming a good deal previously (on some level) or been competing (both?). so, unless someone literally works to be "unknown", a lot of people will be familliar with a bunch of the riders. i don't see how the distinction bugs people...10 years ago you didn't see everyone filming typical parklaps and posting it. let's be honest, anyone "truly unknown" probably isn't the guy good enough to not get shamed out of a park shoot. about the, "bad past picks"....shut up. look, just like in every other pro sport with an "amateur draft", you don't really know whether it'll work out 100% based on looking at what they've accomplished in the past. it's not a black and white issue and lots of factors contribute to what makes a good film skier. not gonna go into that much more here, but i could (mental aspect...drive). beyond the potential for a "sure thing" to bust, everyone making the "bad pick criticism" is making the assumption that level 1's goal is to find the best, most well rounded, most technical skier. level 1, as they should, pick someone that fills a need (i.e. this guy fits on this trip, or this shoot), someone they want to work with, and i'm sure in a visceral, gut feeling sort of way. what you guys are basically asking for is that super unknown look like 9 knights or some shit where skiers perform a list of tricks or some shit...and lastly, i haven't seen a few of the contender's edits yet, but i enjoyed anton jansson's skiing the best.

remind you of anyone? couch*martini. he was a finalist 2 times and l1 never picked him but look now hes in tgr, pbp and is running stept. torvinen will find his spot, but i doubt it will be with l1.

I dont even know how you are supposed to compare a lot of these edits really. Like Jansson or Austin's were sick but they didnt even go out of the park at all? How could they possibly contend with Ross, Alex or Dom who did some gnarly urban that could have easily made level 1 part on their own.

Also guys like Laurent O , showed that they can shred park, but also rip powder, and urban as well. I kinda feel bad for austin for not winning a couple years in a row, but what do you expect? The kid may have great style, but he needs to learn to get out of the park, and take his style and bag of tricks else wear.

l1's picks have noting to do with who is the "best" or who the general public thinks should get picked. They pick a rider that fits with their crew and people like you bitch and moan about it because you think your opinion is so right. Brogan had school that first year, he couldnt just fly out to shoot and then he got in that car accident and has been pretty not able to ski since then. Even if he didnt film with them that much, so what? But they chose him because of his style and the skier that he is, they dont just pick the best skier and id hope at least some of you would recognize that.

Lol Brogan is- was one of my favorite skiers, I wanted him to win. I was just pointing out that it didn't exactly pan out the way I'm sure L1 had hoped. I realize that this is mostly due to circumstances outside of anyone's control.. But maybe L1 should consider some other factors besides who "fits best" when making their picks.. Like availability for example. Same goes for Niklas, you don't see him because he lives in Sweden and since nobody's paying to fly him out he gets no shots. Maybe that should have been considered before choosing.

You say 'so what?'. The 'what' is that L1's choice deprives someone else of the opportunity who may be more available and could get more shots in with L1. If the whole point of superunknown is diversify the L1 crew and give an up-and-coming skier a shot, it's not a very effective method if that new skier can't get any screen time.

I also love Sig Tveit, and I really hope that we get to see more of him in the upcoming L1 movie..

I feel like urban and pow skiiers are at a disadvantage because Level 1 wants someone for the spring park shoots, and the urban/pow season are almost finished.
