Need a new helmet soon, some I'm wondering what helmets you guys recommend/like. I care about looks, not really safety (helmets are mandatory for my park).
POC receptor bug. A little pricey but worth it in my opinion. However, if you dont care about the safety at all, I would not spend the extra money. Other good helmets are the smith holt park, anything from bern, giro shiv, smith maze.
yeah i suppose. most snow helmets are just designed to prevent your skull from fracturing. they don't really do anything for concussions which are way more common. that being said, a poc receptor has really great protection and looks pretty good. why not have both?
I hit my head pretty hard the other day.... and I like my helmet....but I seriously think I need to find one that offers more protection, if not just for peace of mind when you fall
Pocs also arent single impact rated. I'm pretty sure they're made to take more than a few good knocks as where a lot of helmets are made for one serious spill. I like the maze but I will say when I got my receptor you can just feel that the thing is bomb proof. it is just more rugged. Plus the thall rasta helmet is pretty steezy imo.
Seriously. This thread is really stupid. If you don't care about the quality of the thing that's protecting the delicate organ that controls your body and mind, then you deserve to be a vegetable or have serious brain damage.
99% of helmets will do the same role.. protecting against skull fractures. If you want to protect from concussions, wear a mouthguard. I just wanted to dodge people saying 'Well this full face bucket protects more than this' and the helmet mandatory thing was so people don't say 'Hemets r gay' or some dumb shit like that.
Unless you're hucking 120 foot cliffs (and even then), you don't need a full face. Seriously, if you're worried about some bulky thing messing up your groove, get a Smith Maze, super light weight, but like mosty all helmets, it's single rated for crashes. Since you cant really tell if a helmet is done or not after a crash, it can be structurally damaged, and you wouldn't know. Don't get anything like a Bern Hard Hat, those aren't certified, but their EPS foam is. Don't get something crap for park, look at all the injuries that have happened in the past year, you don't want to be next by not getting the proper helmet.
