The Official "Post Pictures of your Custom Ski Poles" thread
They're those black composite good ones, never broken them. I put these slightly thinner grips on them a while ago. Straps look ghetto but they have never fallen out or been any trouble.
Anybody ever cut these with a finer toothed hacksaw? They could do with a few inches less.
yeah, I used a pretty tiny hack saw, the teeth were like 2 mm high maybe. Took about 5 mins for each pole. Anyone know if there are any type of bike grips that are thinner than bmx grips? Cause I really wanna put bike grips on, but my bmx grips were too big.
me too, but i put a ton of duct tape on the end so they fit snug. the rope also helped make it snugger, then you just have to force the grips down onto the pole
Remove grips by placing them in hot water for a few
Since I wanted to shorten these poles, I heated and removed the plastic piece at the end of the bottom section as well
Duct taped at the length I wanted and cut with a hacksaw, glued plastic piece back in
Oury pyramid BMX grips have a narrower grip diameter and a large, soft rubber flange. Since I'm using them upside-down for a 'grab tab' effect, I used a dime to trace a circle with a silver sharpie, and cut a hole with an x-acto knife
Measured and cut duct tape sections for a good fit
This specific kind of lizard skins handlebar plug wasn't included with the bar tape and I found them separately. Hammered in to top of pole.
Wrap bike tape from bottom to top, cut and tape down the end. Boom
Alright so the duct tape/epoxy situation gave out.
So I folded the grips inside out and sanded em up with some heavy low grit sandpaper, replaced the duct tape with cloth climbing tape, and the epoxy with superglue. We'll see how it does. Superglue worked on my last ones.
