not a fan of the speed variations, there was too many shots I found difficult to take in because of the awkward timing of abrupt speed changes. (I am very particular about appropriating speed ramps)

nice variety in tricks, really smooth, as others said the urban crashes didn't fit..i think it might have gone better if the music played through it, and maybe only two crashes..felt like it ruined the flow..otherwise very dope edit..keep it up

thanks man. i was going for a little humor in those crashes but understandable where it discontinues the skiing.

I loved the edit it was sick! Few things I noticed- Very well balanced edit good job on that! Some shots were very dark, especially when you have cuts to the landing on jumps you need to have the same if not extremely close exposure on those or it doesn't look right. Also it seemed alot of your glidecam shots were pretty wide and far out, try to get things a little tighter. When you tighten those things up your edits will be even sicker! Nice job though man, I enjoyed it!

Loved it. Def a step up from past edits. Was all of the urban with the mitten media crew?

Pretty damn good. Some of the levels were a bit off, in the sense of exposure. You could just fix in post real easy. Also definitely some awkward cuts near the beginning, I would recommend actually having the skier landing on the beat than a tad after or before.

all of the urban was just elliott, evan and i, plus or minus a few other buddies of mine up at school. so i wasn't with any of the other "mitten media" crew like judd or kelly

Couple quick things:

You had some star moments. Like some shots where everything came together and it all just looks pretty fucking good. Examples:

0:50 - love the follow zoom, works really well here
1:56 - smooth reverse follow, looks nice

So yeah, some of these shots are really damn good. But to be honest, a lot of them are quite "eh." A lot of them don't make me say "wow this is a great video." I guess what I'm trying to say is that in a lot of these shots, you capture the skiing and you capture the trick and your camera movement is smooth and your colors are on but...the shots are relatively uninteresting. Take, for example, :56. Nice cut away, but this shot is shaky and there's no movement and it's relatively poorly structured. A lot of these are like that! I'm lumping in shots like 2:04 with this description because I wish you woulda had a tripod and had zoomed in more for these. Basically; slow down, take your time, get these shots well-structured and well-executed. If you're filming with your buddies, don't let them hustle you through the park because they want to ski. If you guys are intent on putting out a good edit, make sure they know that you want to take your time and get these shots right!

I liked the colors. Obviously the urban stuff coulda been better lit but hey, gotta deal with what you got, right?

I did not like the mix of urban and park. You're mixing areas of skiing AND skiers. It's one thing if you separate the edit by skiers, or by park/urban, but mixing them together is confusing for me (and the general viewer, I'm assuming).

A few more small things:
2:24 - watch your end focus! You went right past the mark. Also, I don't like how you left in the part where the camera movement stops.

2:27 - good idea, but maybe slow it down? Use a tripod. Shots like that are meant to build anticipation, and this one just rushes right through.

2:38 - nice slider! Gorgeous! Don't cut away! I don't know if he needed two takes to land the trick but I wish he hadn't. You're cutting from a gorgeous shot to a mediocre one...

Ending is super abrupt.

Overall: you have some great ideas and the talent to execute them. I'd say that this edit is rough, very rough around the edges. If you can clean up some of these shots and put a little more focus into execution and overall structure, the quality of your edits will shoot through the roof, I promise. You have the talent, and your content is fantastic.

Okay, I didn't explain this very well.

This may be something only I "see" but I see skiing videos, even short edits, in terms of segments. A segment consists of some overarching continuity.

I'm going to put this in terms of math to explain it better (I'll do my best, but this is proving more difficult to explain than I thought). You can have two types of segments: a segment of type x is a segment highlighting one type of skiing ie urban, pow, park, etc, while segment of type y is a segment highlighting one rider. So x refers to genre, y refers to individual rider. If you have a math equation with x and y, it is impossible to solve for x and y with one equation if you don't know one of the variables, that is, if neither variable is held constant. Not solving the equation is analogous to confusing the viewer. However, if you keep one variable, either x or y, constant, the viewer can "solve" the equation. This equates to keeping either the genre of skiing or the individual rider the same in any given "segment."

So that's confusing as fuck, even for me. I tried my best. Read it slow hahaha. Basically, in this case what I'm getting at is that I wish you'd have put ALL the urban at the beginning, and all the park after it instead of mixing them up. At least for me (and I know that in saying for me, I assume that it is the same for most people), it makes the edit more continuous and easier to follow.

This isn't terribly important, so don't worry about it too much. If you see what I'm saying and agree (you don't have to, by any means), just keep it in mind for the next one.

after watching a few times, I think it looks pretty good. There are a couple spots that could be improved but over all it was interesting to watch. It had a pretty good variety of shots that held me attention throughout the edit. Good job, Nice to see some MI riding!
