AR7 or LINE Blend? +K

So i'm looking to buy a all mountain ski, more piste/park than pow so nothing too fat, that'll be good(ish) in all areas. I'm not amazing at park or pow, so i'm not gonna get picky over specs, i just want something that wont let me down. These look like good options to me, if there are any other skis that fit this description, please let me know!

Im going to get a pair of ar7's because my skis that i ahve been riding for three years are only 169cm's and im 6'2 215 lbs. They are fine for riding the groomers but i want to get into park now. Also i am really good outside the park and i want to get into the park so i cant decide between getting the 176cm ar7 or the 181cm ar7. Do you think 176cm is just fine?

That's a threadjack, but definitely 181... 176 would be way too short for a dude who's 6'2 215 lbs. I'm 5'8 130lbs and I ride 173s and they're perfect for me. Tbh, 181s are probably still too short for you.

Double post, but if you're going for piste/park and not much pow, everyone else is right in saying AR7. They're only 87mm which is a pretty good width for groomers and park, while Blends are 100m and have rocker, and would be more suited for some pow/more all mountain.

just between those two skis for sure the ar7's but if you're open to other suggestions id say the filthy riches or jeronimos from on3p

i have both the ar7s and the j-mos and love the j-mos for just absolutely everything over the ar7s
i mean the only thing better about the ar7s is the swing weight if you're riding park but also seeing as how the blend is another option for you I'm going to assume you're looking for more of an all mountain ski. if it was me and i would definitely go for the j-mo

either way the ar7 is still a great ski

I can get the ar7 for only 380 dollars. And should i get the 176? Also, on3p is out of my price range and i was thinking when i get the ar7 i would ride it for just mostly park and then my k2 extreme 169cm that i have right now i would ride on groomers and crappy rock days. how does this sound? +++++k to you for help

If you want more of an all mountain ski that can shred the park as well, check out the line chronic or armada arv. Blend is a bit to wide to be in the park all day, but the ar7 is a tiny bit narrow to be a true all mountain ski. So meet in the middle with something like a 90-95 underfoot.

Ill be using the ar7 just as a park ski though. My other skis will serve as just a groomer/besides park

i deffinately dont think ill have any problems getting it around the park either. I hear its good outside the park, and i currently ride a 169 k2 extreme and im pretty expert i would say outside the park . Going from a 169cm to a 176cm cant be that bad.....

This is good advice. Definitely check out the ARV because it sits right in the sweet spot of being in the 90's underfoot and so it does well in and out of the park. The nose is so soft you can butter whatever you want and the somewhat stiffer tail gives you some stability. But if you really are set on using your "other skis" for groomers, all-mountain than I guess the AR7 makes the most sense.

Last point though...in my experience you aren't going to want to basically switch skis in the middle of the day. Nobody wants to walk back to the car just to change out skis. So if you're going to do park and allmountain in the same day and are concerned with performance I would go ARV. I rarely have days where I can get everyone to dedicate solely to riding park or the other way around. Personally I think the AR7 can get it done anywhere on the mountain besides pow, but if you really want performance then choose a wider ski, hence the ARV suggestion.

Your absolutely right. I would ski the ar7 all mountain though so..yeah. I can get it for only 380 to. Should i get the 176cm or the 181cm though?

The arvs are comprable to the blends wile the chronics are more comprable to the ar7, that being said i have the ar7 and do a ton of glades in the east coast and they are great but arvs are more strutured twards all mtn skiing

I think the Blends are the better choice here for an all mountain ski. Just my 2 cents but both are excellent choices

No way.. 181 are massive. If i still ski a center mounted 169cm ski 176 will be just fine.

You could find a pair of chronics cheap on here. ARV as well. I hear ya when you say money is tight, but the ar7 will NOT be fun in the trees/ powder. Sure it can shred all mountain, but an ARV, Chronic, or Jeronimo can do a little bit of everything. My chronics still kill it in the park but held its own in winter park this week with 7 in of fresh..

What the fuck, why did you ask for advice if you already knew what you wanted?? I'm telling you there is no way you feel stable at high speeds on a 169 centre-mounted ski at 6'2 215lbs... how long have you been skiing? Again, I'm 5'8 130lbs and ski a 173... you have 85 lbs and 6 inches on me...

Im sorry your right. Its a little unstable but its not bad. I wouldnt know how stable another ski is because because i havent ridden anything.

AR7s seem to be more park specific, although on the whole they do appear to be a better ski.

I have Nordica Dead Moneys, they rip groomers like a race ski even center mounted. I mainly ride park and they work fine there too. Solid one ski quiver.

Yeah, im just trying to see what size would be best for me because i can get the 2012 ar7 for only 380. 176 or 182.

Like I said, 182... as a general rule of thumb, you want twin-tips to be about the same height as you. Obviously it can be longer or shorter depending on personal preference, mounting point, rocker or no rocker, etc. But for AR7s I would say no shorter than like the bridge of your nose...

I already have twin tips and there up to the top of my neck and there 169. If i got 181 it would be above my head probably.

Yes I realize a 180+ ski will be close to the top of your head, and is a drasitc change from a 169 ski, but that's because THE CURRENT SKI IS WAY TOO FUCKING SHORT FOR YOU. That's like saying "man, I know I need to wear size 34 pants, but I've been rocking these size 28s and it's all I've ever known, so I refuse to wear size 34s." even though you will benefit greatly from getting it in a size that actually fits you... Whatever, I'm done. In the end, it's your skis, so it really doesn't bother me at all... I'm just trying to make sure you get a pair of skis that actually fit you properly...

HAHA. Actually the real problem is telling my dad that i need 181's. He will think im crazy. He even thinks the ones i have now are just fine which is complete bullshit but hes letting me get new ones

Does he ski? Is he one of those old, traditional-style skiers with their legs locked together? How old are you? Show him the link and explain to him why you need longer skis, and why you will benefit from having longer skis. If you're any older than 15, you could always get a job and pay for the skis yourself... that way he can't tell you what skis you can and can't get.

The money isnt a problem and ill get the skis. I know my skull is thick as hell, its just a big jump from a 169 to a 181. Also, he has skiied since he was 2 and hes expert. And yeah his legs are locked

Although he told it to you in a rough manner, he is still completely right. I've said it before, but I'll say it again. I completely regret getting a short ski. And by short, I mean it comes right up to my head. With todays twintips and progressive mounting points, and skis with rocker, you really need to go longer. Sure it sounds scary at first but the worst that can happen is it makes you a better skier. I mean, stay within your size range that makes sense for your body, but always choose the longer, top end of that size range.
For instance, my height of 5'7" and 150lbs. my range could be from 165cm to 180cm. So I'll ride a 176 which factors in close to center mount, my height, and my medium weight which crosses off the 181 on my list. If you want your moneys worth, go long. I'll never make the same mistake again on my skis and am trying to help avoid people making the same mistake. Have faith in yourself, you will be able to handle the ski.

Thanks for all the advice, I think i'm gonna go for the ARV, it's pretty much what i'm looking for. However, my only problem is that the sizes are few and far between: 165, 175, 185. Preferably, i'd be looking at about a 178 or 179, and i dont know whether i'd want a 175 or 185?
I'm 15, about 6 foot and weigh 155 pounds, i ski aggressively on piste and would consider myself a decent skier. I'm no so good in the park or powder due to lack of practice (family skier) but i'm definitely looking to get into it!
