Repairing Skis, what epoxy?

So about a week ago I fell in a race and delammed the fuck out of my GS skis. The topsheet is now separated from the core all the way from the tip to the front of the binding. Being a broke ass college student, I can't really afford to buy skis, so I'm gonna try to repair them since there isn't any structural damage. Have any of you guys done a repair like this before? What epoxy did you use and did the repair last long?

Also, if any of you who see this actually make skis, what tensile strength is the glue you use rated to?

use an epoxy that is made for plastic as well a fast cure. works all right.

Why do I want a fast cure? The race season's over now, so I can leave them to cure until next season if I needed to. I'll be on my twins for the rest of the year.

What are you repairing? For a delam, use Locktite brand marine epoxy. It's designed to get wet, and holds really well. Just clean and sand the area so it bonds well.
Or just use JB weld.

fast cure epoxy has the least amount of flexibility when it is cured. It cures really stiff and really brittle so it shatters when the ski flexes.


Do what Rich said, get the LocTite brand Slow Cure Marine Grade Epoxy. It is grey. It takes about a day to cure so it stays flexible when it is dried.

Loctite or a hobby store epoxy. No matter what use a long cure.

You dont get much of it for the cost, but combined with a few blocks of UHMW (epoxy wont bond well with it, sandwich the ski with them and clamp em, keeps your clamps from getting epoxied to the skis!), this stuff does the trick.

THIS!!!! you can buy it at most marine stores for around $20. it is 10x better then any other epoxy for anything to do with skis. it can bond plastics (ski bases are UHMWPE) and its more flexable then any epoxy i have used!

if you dont have a ski press dont expect it to hold. you can try to use clamps but i doubt it will work well
