I'm moving out to wisconsin for the summer to work. and i found out in wisconsin your tints can not be darker then 35% on the back windows and 50% on the front. how strict are cops or how likely are they to pull you over for 5% windows in the back and what do they do? anyone with personal experience? thanks!
A friend of mine has the windows on his soobie tinted far higher than the 35/50% limit and has never had a problem with the police; If anything happened you could probably get out of it by telling the cop you have eye problems.
generally it isn't a problem, but be aware that they can pull you over for that and then take the stop towards other things.
for example, you could be seen pulling out of a bar and get pulled over for your window tint in the hopes that during talking to you alcohol is smelled on your breath. stuff like that.
not that even most cops are necessarily like that, but be aware of what else you have going on in your car and know that your window tint basically allows them to pull you over at any time.
on the flip side, wisco is super fun, especially in the summertime.
yea man are you guys from wisconsin? if so where at? I'm either living in madison or up north in woodruff wisconsin. I think my plan is if i get pulled over ill say i didn't know cause they can be any tint in the back from Utah where I'm from and my plates are from. hopefully that would work
i grew up there, went to college there, lived in madison before i moved to utah.
madison is really laid back, lots of fun, and not too crowded in the summer when school is out. that's where i would live if i was to move back to wisco.
You're probably fine, but be aware that you WILL be pulled over for slightly exceeding their retarded fucking speed limits. There is no good gear for going 25 mph.
im that friend, live in western kenosha county, never had an issue over the past couple years, my brother has had a couple warnings for tint, one was in illinois though, def nothing to worry about
It's also illegal to have any after market exhaust in wisconsin. but all you'll get is a fix-it ticket which means you have a certain time limit to fix it and you get off completely. It's like 60 days, or 90 days or something like that. wisconsin is pretty laid back with everything except weed
I had 20% all the way around with no probs for the 2.5yrs I had my wagon up there. Also, if you have 'factory' tinted glass in the rear, you are allowed to go as dark as you want. I know my passat didnt look tinted from the factory, but there is a little etching that said VW Tinted on it, so that was always gonna be my excuse.
