Have you seen panda poles?
ski poles made from bamboo?

kinda dig 'em they've got a few guys on the free ski tour riding 'em now too.

anyone tried them out?

they're really sick, but wouldn't be good for park and are mad expensive. I just stole a pair of rental poles, took the grips off, cut them down, put the grips back on, and spray painted them black. Here's a pic of them:

All this talk about stealing rentals makes me think the only people making money are the pole guys selling to the rental places.

Buump for more info. I wanna make my own pair (yes I have the skill) what diameter are these puppies though. I found bamboo around town but not sure what size I should use.

Haha Yeah rather than steal some rental poles just go and cut down some bamboo and shred. Even better if your resort uses Bamboo to mark hazards you don't even have to cut some down.

funniest part about this is I don't know too many skiiers that are "poor" by definition. if you're skiing you're not going hungry for the most part. I'm with you stealing is pretty lame.

Thanks for the feedback. Just to let you know: Our highest end "Fatty Kush" strap might be $35, but it's a lot more than just a decent strap. It's only $10 for a 'decent' strap. Most companies don't offer a 'no strap' option and just charge the extra $8-$25 for a strap, even if you don't want it.

This quick edit shows what goes into the $35 straps, which we don't suggest for everyone. They are an artisan product if you're into that...

if you are in Europe you might want to check out Poleplant (dot com). Cool bamboo ski poles made in the french alps.. I tried them, they are strong and light, and look very nice!!

Only problem with my pandas is they've kind of blown up and fragmented on both pairs. The basket end has cracks and they're slowly working their way up :( short pair is basically

Curious if opinion has changed and anyone else has picked up a pair of these? Sure they're super expensive and it appears their price has increased quite a bit the past 10 years, but I had a prepaid visa laying around and combined with a very nice 30% discount, decided to finally order a pair.

You fuckers who steal poles are scumbags. Go to goodwill or salvation army. Even brand new poles can be got for $20-30. If you're skiing you can afford that.

I just ordered a pair. The main reason is that I could customize them with a long ass Moto grip in green. And they’re made by locals. Had a 20% off code and sans strap they came to 85 bones.

Mine because they hold up when I wreck. And I wreck HARD a LOT.

If I’m not mistaken he’s changed it to a lifetime warranty now. That alone is worth buying a pair

Yeah I actually had a good discount code and a random prepaid visa card laying around so copped a pair about a month ago. Absolutely love them too. They've taken quite a beating and are holding up so far. The baskets are solid af too
