Max wind speed of lifts?

I was just wondering what is the max wind speed that an average chairlift can operate at

i remember reading somewhere that is was 40ish-50ish mph but it all depends on what type of lift it is

im guessing it would be thinking that that is what would get it swinging. if it was blowing at a constant 50mph i have no doubt it would be shut down

Sme lifts have that protector thing but if it's regular then 40 is probably pretty damn gusty

I think round about 40ish, becuase in Scotland winds often get way higher than that, one of the reasons why the lifts are often closed, that and there no snow :(

We have two 6 pack detachables, one that usually goes across the wind direction. That one goes until gusts get above 45 mph. The other 6 pack we have usually goes straight into the wind, and they can run that one until about 60 mph. It's basically based on chair swing. Once swing gets to be like 2 or 3 feet then you start running into chairs hitting towers.

The gondola at Kicking Horse shuts down at 80km/h I'm pretty sure. It happens often

If the wind is coming from the southwest (like it usually does) at 75km+ they'll shut down our main lift at Red. Tomorrow's forecast is for winds of up to 100km... could be a wild one up in the mountains tomorrow.
