So recently my 2011 Salomon Suspects's edges broke. I need a new ski obviously so I turn to you NS for help. im 5'5'' 117 lbs. I am looking for a durable, playful park ski where the edges won't break after hitting rails all day. Any other questions just ask up in the thread. +K for help.
Punx would be the softest, chronics would be in the middle, ar7s would be the stiffest. Punx have edge issues but that will probably be fixed next season.
Punx are supposed to be buttery but still able to handle big jumps, but they might not be the greatest outside the park.
Chronics are all-mountain/park skis, and with their medium stiffness and rocker, they should be playful in the park but still stable for all mountain and wouldn't be bad in a little bit of fresh.
Ar7s are stiffer, and like the chronics more of an all-mountain/park ski. They're not going to be very playful, especially because you're lighter. They will be good for charging groomers because of their stiffness but they might be kinda boring in park.
If I were you I'd go with the Chronics or the punx, at 117 pounds the ar7s will be too stiff for you. It all depends on if you want a stiffer ski or not. Living in Connecticut (I checked your profile) I think that the Chronics would be a perfect one ski quiver because you can still rail groomers, have fun in the park, and enjoy a little bit of powder when you get it.
Suspects and ar7 is similar in many ways, both directional stiffer and poppy. AR7 is probably better when it comes to durabilety. So if you liked suspects go ar7, if you want something softer go t-hall (basicly softer ar7, with symmetrical flex) or punx or something.
Aight homie. I got a pair of suggestions for you depending on what you like. From Majesty skis check out the Majesty Comics and The Majesty Rock and Rollas. A close friend of mine has both and highly recommends them to any park skier. The comics are pretty classic and won the editors choice award from freeskier magazine. Awesome all around ski that will last you. My friends personal favorite are the Rock and Rollas. They have a newer and more revolutionary design featuring different widths and some nose and tail rocker. As one would expect from majesty as well, they have sick graphics. My friend is about 5'8" and weighs about 160. He loves them. He throws some sick tricks off of jumps with these and rocks the rails. I have the majesty dirty bears so I can also attest to their quality. For ordering, you can use my public code, JW2012 for 25% off of all Majesty products. Enjoy man, and feel free to pass that code around to hook up some friends.
Of topic a little but did you detune them? I hit mine hard on rails all day and they are perfect. Suspect is known to be a ski of a variety of opinions (mostly bad) but I have had no problems. Check out the Armada series halos seem a good fit.
