I saw the video below and i want to try it. Tell me everything i need to know. i google searched and honestly didn't find too many helpful pages. What is the cheapest setup you could use? Is it really fun? I'm looking to do it over water at my cottage in the 1000 islands. post your own edits! (not random people please, i can go on youtube for that) any advice would be appreciated!
ok i have a question. I have never slacklined a little before, and can stay on the thing and walk a little bit, but that is pretty much it. I can buy a Gibbon Classic 15m for $47 or a Gibbon Surfline 30m for $77. (BTW I can't get the Jibline on sale). So which do you think I should go for? I think i will learn pretty easily so I don't want to get bored with the Classic, but it is cheaper. What do you guys think?
i havent tried the classic, but i bought the 100 feet so i could set it up over water at my cottage. and i got the 2" because i have a bunch of little cousins and want them to be able to do it too. things are going well so far. ive made it across a 25' section with about 10 1 hr practice sessions
i would definitely go with the surfline. believe me if you are on it alot, say 3 or more times each week, you will most likely progress and wish you bought the surfline. If you are thinking long term go with the surfline because you won't need to upgrade for quite a time. the extra money is worth it. Plus, for that price the surfline is a steal. on theclymb right?
well the classic is the shortest, and i believe its only 1 inch wide. the jibline and sufline are the same, both 2" and meant for ticks, but the surfline is 100 feet and the jibline is 50 feet. the surfline has a big ratchet that is amazing for cranking the line up real tight for long distances. if you did the whole 50' with the jibline ratchet, you would not be able to get it very tight.
well if you believe that you are going to spend alot of time on the slackline and if you think you will improve at decently fast. i would say yes buy the surfline. If you want to trickline but you don't think you will slackline very much i would say go with the jibline. and i feel like unless you are only walking the line go with the classic. I am speaking from personal preference. i bought the jibline 2 months ago and i already wish i bought the surfline because i want to increase the length. if you arent going to be using it at a large length go with the jibline. they have the surfline on the theclymb.com right now for 77$ so now would be your chance. if you want an invite to theclymb shoot me a pm
gibbons are 2 pieces, one part with the ratchet and the other part with the majority of the line. each part has loops on the ends for looping around your anchor point. plus they have specific flexes for tricks or just balance, etc
google how to set up a slackline
i would be careful using a ratchet strap, if its just flat webbing you have no idea how strong it is, and it might snap
i've had an anchor break and the caribiner on the end snap me in the ankle, it wasnt very fun
Yeah, I've got a couple friends that are really into it. They look at it from a ski influenced perspective which is really cool to watch. I'll post an edit when the third page comes around...
just wanted to give a quick thank you to those of you who helped me out and encouraged me to get one, having so much fun on my surfline! Ive only been on it about 10 times so far, but yesterday me and a couple friends all walked across a 30ft stretch, and stomped a couple 360s about 2' above the line. sooo fun! gonna set it up tomoro over the creek, about 50-60ft gap, should be a good time!
I have a question. Say I bought a 100 ft line and wanted to put it across a river, say with a drop of roughly 20 ft below it. Attached to trees where we cliff jump and shit at. Would this even be plausible? And would I progress quickly enough doing it in my backyard and such to even have fun on it across the river this summer?
absolutely, i plan on doing the same thing. you and youre friends will have to practice tho. you will progess quickly as long as you practice a lot and keep trying new things
I got a jibline after using a gibbon classic and I've tried to set it up like 4 times so far. I look up video and other online instructions and for some reason the line is super wobbly. I know that it should be a little more wobbly than the classic but I think I should be able to walk across it without falling off since I was flipping off the classic. Does anyone have tips?
