Anybody have a pump track?

I have the land to build one, but I am not sure what exactly I want to build yet.
How big is the space it takes up?
How bad is maintenance?
Anything else I should know?
I know it will take a while and not be an easy task, but thanks for any help

I wish I did. Doesn't really need a hill or anything, but I've heard maintenance is a constant bitch.

my buddies and i built one last summer. We did not plan really at all we just kinda started building, so i would say make a plan or research good designs.

ours was like 50ft by 70ft give or take a few

also choose a good place because we built ours right in the entrance to a field that would later be used for dirt jump building so we had to run over our pump track with a tractor daily, SO DONT DO  THAT.

also dont let cows in, we did that too.

AS far as maintenance, if you ride it for 2-3 hours with about 3 other guys it will need to be manicured. When ours was half built we just had 3 rollers into a big 180 degree berm and once we got a feel for the berm it got destroyed so, just manicure it after every session.

also, try and get a tamper (one of those packing devices) that way you can really pack and cement your rollers. Make sure you have a water source nearby too.

We have one but its on the side of a hill, kinda weird at first but its super fast. We have problems with horses, but get a crew out to build it and if you keep it watered then you shouldn't have a problem.

Thanks for the input.
The land is in our backyard so no worries of somebody tearing it down or cows or other animals other than gophers which could be a problem.
I have seen a couple online blueprints, but haven't made up my mind yet

keep in mind that even after you spend a month perfecting it, it can still ride terribly.

This. Always keep working on it. After 4 years some of the people who built pumptrack are still adding and taking out things.

in my neighborhood, only the loop in the foreground is done, but the whole back yard is shaped and just needs some work. stoked for when its all rideable.

that's what's so cool about them! if you're real serious about it you can just keep adding to it and taking away from it....constant work in progress

Best pumptrack I've EVER ridden. And they are only riding half of it. It's in whistler.
