It is impossible to have a 2D object, but possible to perceive an object as 2D.

Example... Close one eye, everything you see is now perceived as 2D, however it's all 3D.

The reason 2D objects are impossible is because they only have length and width, without depth there is nothing.

ha i just remembered something. in one of my friends classes (it's a college class mind you), kids were arguing with my friend try to tell him paper was 2D.

Who says the two dimensions both have to be a physical dimension? One could be time or they could be one of 6 of the extra dimensions according to String theory.

inb4 someone tells me it's impossible. I don't know if it is so don't get on my case. It's just something to think about.

this, i see i made a typo, my hands were cold. paper isn't a 2D object, it has thickness, albeit a very small thickness, it's still there.

if by object he means something tangible, then my answer remains valid. sure you can have a 2D plane but it is not an object.

good example! but i have my eye shut and its been like that for 4 months now and there is lack of depth perception but i can still perceive things as 3d because i know they should be.
