I'm assuming that they use their shoes more for balance rather than braking. You can see that they have a brake on their handlebars, but if that's attached to the front wheel, I don't think they'd ever use it, and in that case, they probably would use their shoes as brakes.
The brakes werent hooked up. Last thing Id want doing 50mph is for my front wheel to lock up. Now if they could get brakes on the rears, that could become a fun drift machine.
Yeah I assumed that they weren't hooked up or that they could possibly be hooked up to the rear. I didn't check. You'd probably want wider rear wheels if you were to drift.
And a harder durometer, akin to longboard slider wheels.
Yeah, I don't understand the no brakes thing. You'd wear pads out quiiiiick, maybe metal car style ones would do the trick. Might be more expensive than burning up shoes, but sorry, 50 mph with no means of stopping or slowing down other than my feet? fuck that.
aside from that, if any one thing fails, you risk death. tire blows, handbar column snaps, wheelies, hubs, bearings... too much to go wrong. I'd way rather strap slippery boards onto my feet and jump off cliffs.
