How do I make this title

The title in this film reel at the beginning. I also think it is on the video preview as well. +k for help

I think its just an effect in AE where the color of the title is take from the background.

that was a pretty sick reel. but yeah like evan said, just taken from the background. you could also do it by playing around with different composition settings in FCP. just play around with different settings

hmmm thanks for the responses would anyone happen to know the name of the effect by chance? Iv'e done some searching around and kind of come up empty handed.

what if you just make a black or white title then apply different filters to it via opacity. i know you can do that in premiere and fcp x has some similar stuff. like "hard burn" etc.

Ok I'm working in premiere but Ican't quite figure this out what is hard burn and how do I do it

Make a mask out of your text and use it to mask a certain video layer (i.e foliage like in this example)
I'm mostly working with sony vegas for video so I'm not too familiar, though from what i hear AE has its similarities to PS..

yeah this could work. Ive never really experimented with this too much, but maybe changing the blend mode of the text layer could do it as well.

I did the title in Photoshop. You just find the texture image you want the text layer to have, then create a clippings mask of it. It's pretty simple, then you can just export the text with an invisible background to sit over your video.
