typically yes, they only need one pair of the same boot (for freeskiers, racers are different). sometimes they break things since they are way harder on gear than the average user. but for the most part, they are one pair of the same boot for a season.
^this is spot on. For the most part once a skier gets there boots how they want them, they will keep it for a year or so. They will genrally be in next seasons boots from about December and stay in them untill some new ones become available a year later. However if a shell breaks often just the shell will be replaced, if the liners and footbeds are still good.
