Replying to Night terrors, and why the movie ;the ring" is the scariest movie ever made
i watched this movie in a semi stoned state, which was a definite no no in retrospect.
the psychological depth and real life implications of the movie are simply insane.
i dont know if you all know what a night terror is, but it is completely unrelated to a nightmare.
you basically are dreaming and you know your dreaming and you are literally screaming in your sleep and begging to God that you wake up before the thing you are terrified of gets to you. when you do wake up, you have no idea whether you were screaming in your sleep or if you were actually screaming out loud while sleeping.
the concept of the ring is basic, being scared to death. many animals such as squirrels and rabbits have heart attacks and die when captured by an eagle, before any bodily harm has been done to them.
the idea of horses drowning themselves for the fear of something much worse than death was simply to much for me along with so many other parts of the movie which i do nt even want to think about.
i had night terrors for 2 years following that movie, and still today the sound of static from a tv sends chills up my spine.
the only way i sort of got over it was confronting the dream and basically massacring the object of my fear with ever ounce of aggression i had.
i have never watched a scary movie since then, and never will.
