Night terrors, and why the movie ;the ring" is the scariest movie ever made

i watched this movie in a semi stoned state, which was a definite no no in retrospect.
the psychological depth and real life implications of the movie are simply insane.
i dont know if you all know what a night terror is, but it is completely unrelated to a nightmare.
you basically are dreaming and you know your dreaming and you are literally screaming in your sleep and begging to God that you wake up before the thing you are terrified of gets to you. when you do wake up, you have no idea whether you were screaming in your sleep or if you were actually screaming out loud while sleeping.
the concept of the ring is basic, being scared to death. many animals such as squirrels and rabbits have heart attacks and die when captured by an eagle, before any bodily harm has been done to them.
the idea of horses drowning themselves for the fear of something much worse than death was simply to much for me along with so many other parts of the movie which i do nt even want to think about.
i had night terrors for 2 years following that movie, and still today the sound of static from a tv sends chills up my spine.
the only way i sort of got over it was confronting the dream and basically massacring the object of my fear with ever ounce of aggression i had.
i have never watched a scary movie since then, and never will.

I used to get night terrors on a nightly basis....good thing about them is that eventually you are supposed to grow out of them. I did, just took longer then I thought it would.
Although I never was afraid of the ring which is probably because I saw scary movie # whatever first though

none of my friends ever told me about it cuz i had a single in my dorm suite, but after one that i had sleeping in the same room as one of my buddies, he was treating me like i was a total psycho the next day so im pretty sure i was screaming out loud while sleeping. its really fucked up

I have been experiencing night terrors and sleep paralysis fairly regularly and at first it was absolutely terrifying and while I am in it, it is still some of the scariest moments of my life but I have begun to embrace it and can now easily realize what is happening. Now when I finally wake up for real (often I will "wake up" in the dream but still be asleep) I get a huge adrenaline rush and cant wait for it to happen again.
I havent watched a horror movie since Saw and do not plan on doing it anytime soon.

Ya its always been pretty fascinating to me. Last week the intenseness peaked and I felt like my bed was shaking like in an earthquake and I think I "woke up" 3 times before I did for real.
I would love to be able to understand dreams better.

Nice try but a persons imagination can conjure up things far more terrifying than some silly picture on the internet.

I got then from the movie scream when I was a kid. In my dream I couldn't speak or yell and when I tried nothing came out and it would be in places I would recognize to. Really weird but I don't have them much anymore

I've never been one for scary films. At the time of watching i'm perfectly fine and I actually enjoy it but after watching it I'm pretty much a quivering ball of nerves for several days. I always regret watching them.

after watching it, i just had a cold cold feeling all night and for a month or so but i definitely knew that watching that movie had done something really bad and it changed me as a person. the night terrors of being in the movie didnt start until many months later. that movie buried itself inn my subconscious.
