Another help me pick out a camera

Hey NS So me and my brother have been saving up for quite sometime to get an actual nice camera. We both do have some experience filming but not on a dslr (we don't mind putting time into a dslr), we both have a little basic knowledge about dslrs. My dad has a dslr and could teach us more information about them because he has been using one for quite some time.

Our budget is around 700 to 750 right now and we can get more money within the next couple of months.
We've been using a camcorder a lot and both have gopros but both aren't afraid to use a dslr even though it will take some time and effort to get used to.

We really want to use this camera to film action sports (skiing, long boarding, wake boarding etc.) as well as maybe a little time laps, my brother wants to make a big edit as well (like a mini movie of wake boarding cause we're both pretty into it.

Our computer set up is we both have macbook pro 13' and also a macbook desktop (don't know the model because it's my dads old one) We've been using final cut pro and final cut X.

This camera will mainly stay in my brother and I's hands and will probably not just give it over to one of our friends.

If I'm forgetting any info please tell me and I'll answer,

700's really low for a dslr. What kinda cam does your dad have? maybe if he has some lenses you could use you can make it work.

yea I know but we can easily make another 300-500 in about 2 weeks if we tried, my dad has a nikon d700 I believe

my friend also has a canon with a bunch of lenses that he said if we got a canon he would hook us up with some so we could go either way

1080 60p, get this, a glidecam, and a wide angle screw on lens and you'd be good to go

how fancy were you wanting to go? do you want more manual controls or just a good picture quality easy to use camcorder with minimal manual controls? 700 isn't a huge budget for anything that fancy, thats why im curious

I can go up to about `1000, might wan tho try manual focus as well on the camera. Nothing extremely fancy but still pretty fancy, nothing i would wanna give to my friends.

would a TM900K be good for my situation, I already have a nice tripod so I got that covered. Any body here anything about it?

just get a t2i like everyone else...

used one + used tam 17-50 would be like... 800ish

that looks like a sick starter camera. 1080/60p is the shit and it has optional manual focus and other things as well. i say that thing would be pretty solid. panasonic is legit for sure. i don't know much about their consumer level cameras but that one looks pretty good to me from just glancing. it would be good to get started on for sure.

sounds like you would have hookups as far as the learning curve with help from your dad and lenses from your buddies so that wouldn't be too bad. but if you ever wanted decent audio quality with the t2i you would have to look into external mics and what not. and if you were ever interested in photography you could always do some of that with a t2i as well.

Yeah t2i seems like a pretty good option for you, for 800 you could get a tamron 17 50 and a body, and then if you can make another 500 in 2 weeks, then you could get other good accesories or lenses etc.

Check out my thread. Got a Canon Vixia HF20. With Opteka Babydeath and Grip. It's got full hd with 60fps.
