For me:
-Olympic Marathon runners (Just something about running 26 miles in a little over 2 hours is absurd and not many people in this world have the skill or desire to do it.)
-Anyone who has climbed Mount Everest (I think only around 1000 people have successfully done it and its a pretty badass task to accomplish. Supposedly some guy para glided down it which is fucking sick: http://www.usairnet.com/2011/05/paragliding-off-everest/

dont get it twisted though, summiting is fucking sick because of the elevation difficulties(people out-of-the-know under rate this), but that is really the only thing that makes it really difficult.

there are much harder summits in the USA.

This man knows what's up. Everest (present day) means little to nothing. There is little to no actual climbing. All of the difficult parts have ladders and fixed ropes. The "climbers" ascend fixed ropes without climbing. They have all their gear carried for them. The camps are fairly plush. They have some of the best weather teams in the world to tell them exactly when to go for a summit bid. They use bottled oxygen.

Everest simply means that one has $50,000 to spend. I have run into a number of people who have climbed Everest in my ice climbing exploits. Not one of them has been a true climber of any caliber. In the climbing circles, Everest is viewed as a joke and a colossal tourist trap.

I respect Andrew Skurka's accomplishments as an ultra-runner and endurance athlete.

Dude was a poor austrian, became the best bodybuilder of all time(many still believe that is the pinnacle of the male physique, not the bloated physiques now days), became the greatest action hero movie star of all time without speaking english well, married into the Kennedy family, and then became the governor of California...for 10 FUCKING YEARS!!!!!!!

dude took what he wanted, did it his own way, and generally balled the fuck out at life. That is the best life i have ever seen lived.

I respect my dad. He is able to live his life and support a family through doing what he loves (guiding climbs). hes traveled the whole world and even climbed Everest. he is a great example of how you can make your passions into a profession and take advantage of every second in life.

The 7 summits are a bit of a joke in the mountaineering community. Somehow the tallest summit on each continent is actually quite easy. Denali is a hike, with little to no technical climbing or skill needed. Aconcagua has been summitted by numerous dogs. Kilimanjaro is also a walk. Elbrus isn't bad, the Carstensz Pyramid...well it's oceania so clearly not a problem. Hell, even Vinson Massif isn't much of a technical climb. The only issue with it is getting to Antarctica. There are thousands of peaks more difficult than Everest.
