So i've heard lots of good and very few bad things about this lens. its super cheap and i could use a faster lens for some of the low light shooting i do. all i have is the kit lens and a 60d so im wondering if its worth the 120 bucks to get one or if i should just wait and save for nicer main lens?
ok thanks! just the answer i was lookin for. just gettin some stuff on b&h and thought i would just double check before i did some extra impulsive spending haha
what about the ef 50mm 1.4? seems like that is slightly better than the 1.8? and if i were to get an L series lens there is a crop factor of 1.6 right? so a 50mm L series on a crop sensor would be more like an 80mm? is that correct or am i all backwards?
the crop factor is true for all canon lenses when used on a crop body. All 3 50mm's are 50mm on full frame, and they are 80mm equivalent on aps-c (t2i, 60d, 7d, etc.), not just the L lenses
oh ok thanks for the advice guys ill look into some more options for primes then any other good lengths i should check out? like a 35mm or even the 14mm for a wide angle?
If your answer is "no", I highly suggest looking into a pentax 50mm f/1.4 in either m42 mount of k mount (I use the k mount, love it). better build, smoother focus ring, sharper, and the same price as the nifty 50. I've heard it's very comparable to the canon's 50 f/1.4 apart from no AF.
I didn't know nikon did this, I thought it was simply that they only cover the smaller sensor. I know the canon ef-s lenses are only for aps-c bodies, which also has to do with the fact that they extend into the body and would hit the mirror, but I haven't really heard of anyone putting only the 35mm equivalent range on the lens
well say a 35mm DX lens on a DX body would be the same as a 50mm FF lens on FF body. DX lens on FF body doesn't work and 50mm FF lens on DX body would be 85mm
