Surface or Moment or 4frnt?

Last year I had the 2009 Line Anthems. I really liked them but they're a bit too short, and I dislike how extremely soft and flexy they are.
Next season i'm thinking of buying some new skis, and i'm looking for a pair that is very light, decently stiff, and that are really poppy.
I'm thinking either Surface No Times or Double Times, Moment Reno Jibs, maybe 4frnt Switchblades, or Line Chronics. Which of these would you say is this best? Or any better suggestions

Depends on what you're skiing, but chronics are an awesome all around ski IMO

I basically ski only park, and a little bit of powder. and yeah i've heard good things about the chronics

How tall are you? Weight? Skier level?
How much park skiing in a percentage? Pow? All mountain?

I can recommend you the Surface Double time if you want a stiff park ski that will still kill it everywhere else on the mountain (90 mm waist).
I can suggest the Surface Watch Life, 100mm waist, medium stiff flex, kills it in the park and all mountain. Good enough waist for powder too.

In what way? Every ski can have a bad day and get fucked up, I've seen skis from most brands get broken, shit just happends, and it doesn't mean a company has terrible durability. (oh and they ski real nice)

Chronics sound a little more up your alley as far as stiff goes, but man, I LOVE my Switchblades.

Surfaces = Made in China and you will break them.

Moments = Hand made in Reno but I heard they belt finish their bases rather than stone grind finish. So factor in an extra $50 bucks to get them actually tuned to ski fast. (Thats just what I heard so take it with grain of salt). Square tips look funny to me.

4FRNT= Prototyped in SLC and pressed in Slovenia (Elan). Semi-cap, cap, and Sandwhich construction skis. Small company but doing big things. They have solid team too.

I'd go with 4FRNT.

you can also say the same for 4frnt and surface... If anything I have seen a lot less issues with moment than those 2 brands.

dude...you broke a pair of moment park skis...we get it. i've broken pairs of skis, some within a year of buying them....it happens, especially when you're beating the shit out of a park ski. occasionally, there's gonna be a pair of skis with a defective core or something that causes them to break. a lot of people who buy moments happen to be the people who spend a lot of time on newschoolers, so you'll read about a fair share of park skis breaking. same deal for surface or any other little up-and-coming company. i have multiple friends with moments, and i've seen a couple pairs fall apart after a year or two of park skiing, but definitely no more often or worse than any other skis.

you've made it your mission to ensure nobody on newschoolers buy any moment product- skis and outerwear (which im assuming you have zero experience with). search almost any moment thread and you've commented in it...its pathetic. they're a small, relatively new company with new ideas and a potentially bright future. it sucks you had an exception with their durability or customor service or whatever, but give them a break and find something else to do besides committing yourself to destroying their reputation on newschoolers.

Well stated Phishfood.

Always cracks me up when kids who can't ski, who can't land, who hit rails all fucking day long, expect their shit to last. I've put about 400 days on Moments over the last five years, ski over a fuckton of rocks... never broke a pair and scored about 4 or 5 core shots over that time.


To the OP, I ski on the Team ski (stiffer version of the Jib... exactly the same otherwise) when there isn't much new snow, and I've been super impressed with the amount of pop you get. Unfortunately, I have a biased opinion and can't offer a comparison to other park skis.

I've skied on chronics a couple of times before, great ski, light, seem durable coz the guys who's ski they are is a park rat, poppy and just fun to ride

surface double times are light, stiff, and with the full camber are very poppy. This years are even more poppy than last years as they almost doubled the amount of camber. They shred the park and all mountain, and can even handle some powder. I'd definitely recommend.

surface's skis are a fucking joke, ive seen many that should have never left the factory(poor finishing, noticeable defects, stuff like that), their quality control is not up to par with other brands, plus its made in china, who the fuck wants a ski made in china by someone who has probably never skied a day in their life

moment makes fun skis, but as others have siad, their quality can be hit or miss. I was riding next year's vices the other day, very fun light weight and poppy ski. But i also noticed some of the other demos they had out had some....problems where the edge connects in the tip. Good bases(as said above you might need to do some work to them to get them perfect), and their new topsheets seem pretty durable

4frnt use to suck for durability, their edges were terrible back in the day. I can't comment on their new park skis, but they have deff stepped it up with their pow skis from what I have seen

personally out of the 3, i would go with moment, just because they are made in america, the moment guys are pretty cool and chill from what i have seen, and when you get a good ski it is a quality product, i just wish they used different cores

really i would go with on3p.......but thats just me (and a lot of others on here (; )

My friend had surfaces and loved them. I rode them once and thought the flex was purrrfect. They also have great customer service. They warranties 2 pairs of his skis!

first he had watch lifes, then they broke. they sent him nine lifes. super buttery and all around a fun ski. then they tip delammed and then he got one lifes
